Hi,
Been thinking about one of these for practice and as a controller.
Looking for pros & cons.
Thank you

Re: Yamaha np11
Pros: cheap, lightweight
Cons: cheap, lightweight
It'll get the job done, but the feel (and sound) will be no better than tolerable. It's easily knocked over on a stand, owing to a lack of substance, which means you can't really 'dig in'; low end Yamahas aren't known for ruggedness, so factor a very good semisoft case into the price, if you'll be traveling with it. If portability is your main requirement, but it will see only very light duty, it might fit the bill, but as a controller, there are better options for not much more money, that include handy-to-have stuff like extra knobs, faders and DAW transport controls. Have a look at M-Audio's Oxygen line.

Re: Yamaha np11
Thanks Mojo,
We only have a few music stores here in Nassau,
and it seems they all shop at the same place (visiting salesmen).
When I find something I like, I check it out on youtube,
then get someone to bring it in for me.
But I know there's nothing like that hands on experience...
Thank goodness for the Internet and Taxi Forum
