Yeah, I know, how long did it take me to figure this out! But this is right up there with "discovering" Cloudlift for me.
I can sing into Wave Tune and export it to midi. I can record articulations over that midi with the merge record feature in ProTools. I can also use whatever standard style I want something played in from Toontrack.
I "discovered" all this in the middle of the night last night.--I think I was supposed to have learned it in my recording classes eight years ago (time flies!), but I was having such a hard time cross-fading in that class that I couldn't get to the "advanced" material for the course (which showed up in my grade for the class--don't ask!). Although there was a little app on my iPhone the instructor recommend we play with to get used to recording song ideas on the fly. It did a voice to midi conversion. I could export its midi, but only small amounts, and it was really choppy. It that case, it was better to just grab a keyboard.
Theoretically, I could actually get a cue done in four hours now. Currently, I'm at the two-week mark. Which, in itself, is a major improvement.
Man, I'm good to go now!

Best,
