Your favorite ambient/pad software synth?

Post by andrew206 » Fri Jan 11, 2008 8:05 am

I'd like to hear suggestions for a good ambient/soundscape/pad type of software synth for MacOS/AU use in Logic. Sounds that evolve and morph through the notes. Relaxing, meditative, etc.I'm off to my nap now - Thanks!

Spectrasonics Atmosphere, is where I'd usually start.Quote:I'd like to hear suggestions for a good ambient/soundscape/pad type of software synth for MacOS/AU use in Logic. Sounds that evolve and morph through the notes. Relaxing, meditative, etc.I'm off to my nap now - Thanks!

Atmosphere is a good choice. It's strength is in being able to combine the included samples (which are pretty great). If you want extensive editing, look elsewhere, if you want great patches, Atmosphere is fantastic. If you don't want to sound like the thousands of others that use Atmosphere, it's a good idea to learn how to make your own patches with it. It also has some synth bass and lead sounds. There's also some great libraries out there that run in Kontakt, if you already have it. Otherwise, I believe Logic has a very good sampler which has lots of third party support.OOOOOOOOOOMMMMazzzzzzzzzz

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

If you're still awake , NI Absynth does great pads and soundscapes of all kinds, from pleasant to bizarre...
