Claire went on to write hit songs for Universal South... and the "Listen To Dave" t-shirt sales went through the roof! Allow me to be the first to congratulate you on that spiffy (and not easy to get) forward!

Stopped in to answer PMs and thought I'd hop in here quick before takin' off........I hope most of the newbies know that the forums aren't indicative of the general population of Taxi. I mean, all y'all know that, right? There're somewhere in the vicinity of 13,000 members now and only some 500 post here and most of them don't post regularly. If you check out the featured artist stuff on the main page, you'll often seen ones you've never seen post here. And Michael has said many times that people don't email Taxi and let someone there know they've scored a deal. So there could be many country deals going on out there. You jes ain't seein' 'em on the boards is all. Or in the newsletters. Cuz people (like me, sadly), don't tend to climb the nearest pole and crow out their successes. I've tried to get over that but it's jes too strong a drive in me. Maybe others will though. So them's the facts. I hope all you country writers score that big hit. I've told chits many times that I hold country writers in high regard. Their job is jes blistering tough and the standard that taxi holds them to (that I don't necessarily think Nashville does) is extremely demanding.

I don't think I can say anything that hasn't been already said. The odds of landing a deal in Nashville, from what I hear, are so tough that it's very hard to say what vehicle works better than another.Claire- it sounds like you are doing the right things. I think people who are drop-dead serious about making it in country music have to move to Nashville, live it, eat it, and breathe it every day. That's not a criticism of those who don't or simply can't make that move. Real life forces our hand regarding choices- complete empathy... Reality is, few have truly succeeded without being there for many years. I assume you are doing things like gigging in the local clubs, making contacts, networking via songwriting groups, looking for co-writers who have contacts, approaching publishers where you can, etc. Taxi can never replace that but it can supplement it if you can keep it in your budget. Not saying you should or shouldn't stay in it... We have to carefully plan every dollar in this crazy biz... If Taxi introduces you to only one good publisher, that contact could be vital... So, it's hard to say...The reason you see tons of film/TV successes and few Nashville placements in Taxi's success stories is their ratios are indicative of the industry and the opps for new folks. Many of us will make some money in film/TV and never get a song cut by an artist whether we work through Taxi or other means. You got tons of talent.... Hang in there and best of luck!! Casey

Taxi only wants hit country songs, if you haven't got one cut yet then step your game up, you're competing against the steeles and the rutherfords and even the artists here, what do you expect?I'd like to hear a few of your songs claire just to gauge where you are

I just went and counted.... 59 returns outa 60.... with 7 pending.... no deal.... still swinging..... that makes me stubborn I guess but I believe in my stuff.... the folks around here have given me tons of help..... have you tried Peer to Peer? Before/if you go for #35,36 & 37 why don't you post one of your subs, ask opinions and tweak until the final sub date..... have you made some of the rewrites screeners have suggested? Just trying to gauge where you are....Peace, Geo

I'm assuming you can do an artist search on Taxi same as on Broadjam. The songs I primarily submit are "Ready to Meet Me" the pop version of "Reach for the Moon", "Thinkin' 'Bout The Wedding Night", "Every Broken Rule" and a few others. Claire Ulanoff
