Re: any reason fans in the house?
I can't for the love of good get the rewire to work either within pro tools or cubase, and I usually manage computer stuff pretty well. Love reason too, but would like to use it as combo with other stuff.

Yeah geoff,Got it, and at one time was using extensively. Like it lot. I think it's one powerful little tool. At the time that I got it, I was more interested in integrating some real live sounds, and using it a little differently than the norm. As I mentioned in a previous post, I put it to one of the ultimate tests (at least for me anyway). Here's a little tune, not up to TAXI standards though. Was done before joining TAXI.ibanez468PS-- If anyone wants to hear, PM me, and I'll send to ya'.

Re: any reason fans in the house?
Steini, When using Rewire, the launch and quit order is very important:Launching for normal use with ReWire1. First launch the host application.2. Then launch Reason.Quitting a ReWire sessionWhen you are finished, you also need to Quit the applications in a special order:1. First quit Reason.2. Then quit the host application.Routing in the ReWire host applicationThe following description is based on using Reason with Cubase as the host application. For descriptions on how to activate and route ReWire channels in other host applications, please go to www.propellerheads.se/rewirehelp.1. Pull down the Devices menu in Cubase and select the menu item with thename of the ReWire application (in this case Reason). All recognized ReWirecompatible applications will be available on the Devices menu. The ReWire panel appears. This consists of a number of rows, one for each availableReWire channel.2. Click on the green buttons in the “Active” column to activate/deactivate thedesired channels. The buttons light up to indicate activated channels. How many and which channelsyou need to activate depends on to which Hardware Interface inputs you haveconnected your Reason devices, as discussed above.3. If desired, double click on the labels in the right column, and type in anothername. These labels will be used in the Cubase Mixer to identify the ReWire channels.4. Open the Cubase Mixer. You will find that new channels have been added - one for each activated ReWirechannel. If the channels aren’t visible, you may need to scroll the Mixer window orcheck the Mixer View options (different channel types can be shown or hidden asdesired in the Cubase Mixer).5. Start playback (in Reason or Cubase - it doesn’t matter as both programs willautomatically be synchronized). You will now see the level meters moving for the playing ReWire channel, and hearthe sound of the Reason devices through Cubase’s Mixer. Of course, this requiresthat your Reason Song contains some music!6. Use the mixing features in Cubase to add effects, EQ, etc.Hope this helps.

Quote:that was done in reason?Yep!Quote:if so it would have taken me for ever to so something so complicated as that....funky!It did! But that was part of the test.Quote:but im not sure why the latency is so terrible. You'll have ta' check into that. I've been able to use rewire the few times that I tried it.Quote:i just wish propeller head would allow for audio recording in reason(sigh)..then my life would be complete lolYeah, me too. It would be a great help wouldn't it?Quote:so i use reason to build my instrument tracks ( i record instrument parts into audition and then rex'em in recycle...its a bit time consuming..but it can make very good for future remixes)? That's how I put the tune together. Just the guitars though. Everything else are stock sounds, and the bass is a marcus miller refill. It is very time consuming.Quote:if you havent check out recycle before and you use reason...you have a whole world of possibilities in store!Got that too!reason is more popular for hip hop and beats but i made this space rock song with it :http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... m=trueYour tune wouldn't stream for me. Re: any reason fans in the house?
I've use it off and on since version 1.It has some of the coolest synths and at the time Dr. Rex was the only real REX player (now Stylus blows it out the water).I've just loaded up version 4 and it just keeps getting better. For electronica and hip-hop beats you have a great all-in-one piece of software, but I work extensively in Cubase, and I'm not a big fan of Rewire, but hey I keep upgrading every time a new version comes out.Best,Cisco

Re: any reason fans in the house?
i also think reason is a GREAT way to colab via the internetif both parties have the same reason files as the other(and if you have self made samples, you can embed these into the reason file)and keep swapping back and forth as the song develops...its a really great way to do thingsif anyone is up for a colab in the vein of rock, shoegaze, ambient/ethereal pls let me know!: )

Re: any reason fans in the house?
Yeah! It's great to see so many Reason users. I also use Reason rewired in at least half of my tracks. Sometimes I'll create a track in Reason then rewire it to bring it into Sonar and add finishing touches. I really like a lot of Reason's tweak-ability.Since Reason is used via rewire so often, I am truly hoping for an update someday that allows audio-in. Hmmm.... Maybe I should email Propellerheads weekly until it is included in a future update?I really like to use the effects in Reason. I love to separate the left and right channels and use the same effect with slightly different settings. For example, using a separate chorus/flanger on each channel. I also have just recently discovered how fun it is to use the CV routing for effects. I'll bring in a Maelstrom to use just as a modifier, or a Matrix to trigger envelopes. I am using version 3 though and am not sure if version 4 has enough in it for me to upgrade. Is anyone using something in version 4 that can't be done in version 3?
