I'm a reason fanatic. I mostly do hip-hop but I use it for other genres too. There are quite a few people on here that use reason.I noticed your location is Seoul. I'm assuming you are an ESL teacher over there? How are things going for you over there? I've been to Korea a number of times and recently I've been thinking of doing that myself for a few years until I get the music thing going full swing.-Steve

Hey Steve...you got it...Im an Engrish;) teacherI like it allot here.Acutally, I got into the acting biz while teaching..just to be able to make enough friends in the industry to thenmove into music...sadly, the market in korea is....hmm i am trying to be positive here....locked.its sad there are so many talented indie artists here butso much of the music industry is inserested in image and imitationso many times i watch a music video and say "oh my god! they didnt just rip "name western pop star" off, its the same melody and the same fashion as in the orig. video:O!lolbut i do like being here, and im considered useful here and i like to be where im wanted...anywho...you have been here before?where did you stay? just for a vacation?holler...and send me a link to one of your fav. tunes you made in reason!peacegeoff

I usually stay in the gyunggi-do area. San Bon to be exact I believe. But I've also stayed in Seoul and visited daejeon, go jae do, and a few other little cities and towns I don't know the name of. I stay with a family and go there as kind of a "working" vacation. I usually teach taekwondo while I'm there. How long have you been living in Korea? Thats cool that you do some acting over there. You probably already know this, but make sure you get permission from the Korean government over there before you take any acting gigs. They recently deported and fined two foreigners that were in "The Host" because their visas didn't allow for acting. One had a teaching visa and the other had a 90 day tourist visa. I read that the Korean government said that foreigners had to get permission even for volunteer activities like helping out at orphanages. Don't know how or if they will enforce that much but better to be safe than sorry I hear you on the music thing over there. All image and then for the music they just rip off american and british acts that were popular 10 years ago. Eh...but I'd still take a paying gig with an entertainment company over there lol Here are probably my two favorite reason songs right now, the streaming quality is awful though:http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... =trueMaybe I'll see you in Korea sometime-Steve

Hey Steve..I have been here in Korea for over 5 years...(first bundang, then suwon and now seoul)and yup i know allllllabout the ins and outs of legal/not legal acting here in korea. The guys that were in "the host" had an acting agency that didntcare to take precautions with immigration and sold their actorsout once they got heat from their mistake.sad sad.anyway,im done acting. waaaay done unless its a big respectable part (and not being typecast as some longhaired pervert(like i have before;)my acting company was bad too. scroooooges to say the least.im happy now being in korea's most rockin western rock bandi checked out both of your songs(i understand about the streaming quality so dont worry)i dug yakuzamoon, it was fun and i think it could be a jpop/gansta thinghollergeoff

I figured something like that happened with the actors from "The Host." It is it really doesn't surprise me at all.lol I was going to ask you if you played any "evil white guy destroying korea and/or corrupting innocent korean girls" type roles as I hear they are quite prominent over there. Quite humorous lol.5 years is quite a while. I guess you got through the 6 month hump I hear people talking about all the time. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of ours do you work there? I've heard that hagwon owners promise something like 30-35 hour work weeks, but somehow I don't believe that. Thats really one of the big attractions of teaching engrish for me...I can make about the same amount of money and have more time to work on my music. But I've heard some horror stories....:-/Thanks for the compliments on the song. Yakuza Moon is probably my favorite of the two...I wrote it for a listing wanting a mix of east asian and western pop/rock/hip-hop. Its still pending... hopefully it will get pushed through.-Steve

Yep,I started my music stuff back up again several years back using Reason as my only piece of software. I didn't even know what electronica was, I just bought it because of it's "all-in-one" approach and was using it at that time mostly to create New Age type of stuff.I still use Reason but as a rewire withing Sonar (among other VST virtual instruments).Just upgraded from Reason 2.5 to Reason 4 and haven't explored it much yet. Generally I either use the synths in Reason or the fabulous Dr Rex as rewire instruments within Sonar for anything that remotely resembles electronica or where some of those elements are needed. I also have some great tabla loops in Rex format and in version 2.5 there used to be a "modify notes" thing where you could select a set of notes (like the last two beats of a tabla rhythm) and click a button to randomly modify the selected portion of the pattern by x%. Really useful for creating intros, fills, alternate beats. I just looked and everything is different so I don't know how to do that now. If they got rid of that I won't be happy. Amazing piece of software though.
