Got v2. Man! The groove extraction feature is so cool! And the convo reverb is going to be useful.

Well...it actually feels more like stepping into the daylight...Cruciform wrote:Come to the dark side, Luke.cardell wrote:Oh, wow...I LOVE Presonus Studio One too!!
I'm a long time Cubase user.

For instance: the integration with Melodyne is so seamless, it's like Melodyne is part of Studio One!!

Apparently they co-developed technology to do that. Haven't had a chance to play with Melodyne yet.cardell wrote:For instance: the integration with Melodyne is so seamless, it's like Melodyne is part of Studio One!!

Re: Anyone using Presonus Studio One
I've have been using Studio One Pro for a few months now. I am a newbie as far as recording, but I really love this DAW. It's very user friendly, although I feel like I'm in school all over again as far the learning curve. (That would be for any DAW though). I just downloaded the free trial of S1 2 and I'm excited to try Melodyne Essentials. Will see if it's worth the upgrade before I purchase. I have a long way to go as far as the quality aspect of my recordings (getting good vocal recordings, mixing, editing, etc.), but I am enjoying learning in Studio One:)
Best,
Jenna E.

I think that's important. We have to enjoy working in our DAW or it becomes a chore, something to be dreaded rather than to be looked forward to. I love working in S1. It's so easy to drag in instruments, sounds, etc to get started.

You've chosen the right DAW (in my opinion) because the learning curve is nowhere as steep as [most] other programs. S1 actually makes it fun to create music because...it doesn't get in your way and disrupt your creative flow.
The thing I find most impressive is that: it's so simple to use without sacrificing functionality. So far, I've been able to do everything that I normally do in Cubase & Sony Acid in this one great program (only faster)!!
(OK...yes, I was a Marketing Major at University, but I simply love this program.

Well, this is the place to learn. I've found that the people on this forum are generous (to a fault) with their time, knowledge and encouragement.laurise0626 wrote:I have a long way to go as far as the quality aspect of my recordings (getting good vocal recordings, mixing, editing, etc.), but I am enjoying learning in Studio One:)
This forum has a positive vibe about it that always draws me back.

Re: Anyone using Presonus Studio One
I love the forum. This is the first time I've ventured over into the tech/rec/prod discussion group, but I have a feeling I'll be spending a lot more time here as I'm trying to learn about all this. I'm so glad TAXI has this resource b/c it's already helped me to grow tremendously, and I know this is just the beginning. I love being a part of a community where we all help each other. There aren't a lot of places you can do that, even out there in the music world.
Rob and Stuart- I was going to purchase Pro Tools and the guy at Guitar Center convinced me to try S1 and I'm so glad he did. He said it was much more user friendly and that the quality is just as good. I haven't personally tried Pro Tools although I've seen the engineers in the studios working on it when I go into the studios to record. I'd like to learn it one day, but I feel like I need to start simple so S1 it is:)
Are you guys going to the RR?

Re: Anyone using Presonus Studio One
IMHO, I think the reason a lot of people still buy Pro Tools is because it's used in studios so there's an ease of transferring projects as well as the perception that it's what the 'pros' use. But nowadays, the 'pros' outside of studios use anything. And seeing the number of people moving from the major DAWS to S1 makes me think I'm not missing much. I know S1 doesn't have everything the others do, but their philosophy from the start was to make things simple and stable and they've achieved that.laurise0626 wrote:Rob and Stuart- I was going to purchase Pro Tools and the guy at Guitar Center convinced me to try S1 and I'm so glad he did. I would love to but along with Stuart, it's a long ways from Australia. Actually, the main reason I'm not going this year is my wife is expecting our first bub in Feb.!Are you guys going to the RR?

Re: Anyone using Presonus Studio One
OK- this is sort of a dumb question, but can someone tell me how to get snapshots of quotes into the reply section? I know how to take a snapshot- Command-Shift-4. Then how do I get it into my comments? Or is there an easier way altogether that I'm missing? It's driving me crazy- I keep wanting to quote people for reference, but I have never learned how to do that.
Rob and Stuart- yes that is a long way from Australia! I am in Colorado which is a two hour flight from L.A. and I got a plane ticket for just under $200 so it was affordable for me. They should do some kind of podcast for everyone who can't attend. (I wonder if they do).
Rob- Congrats on your soon-to-be little one! That is definitely very exciting! Do you know what you're having? We have two boys (8 & 10). It is a blast:) Being a parent is the best role you could ever play in life.
Talk to you soon:)
