Being Deliberate

Well, I've just discovered this thread! And, well, can I say -- I'm so proud of you all! I would like to give you all a bit of coaching on this (it is my area of specialty, after all). And then I'll share my goals for this coming month!First, to clarify what a goal is -- a goal is not an action its a result. It's about what you have, not what you've done. In skimming through the posts over the last few months, many of your lists sound like To Do lists. What is even more powerful than creating a list of actions and using your support team to hold you accountable is to create a list of specific goals and then list the actions that serve those goals.What you'll get from doing that is inspired instead of overwhelmed For example:I'll have:A sophisticated, beautiful website attracting and serving my clients exquisitely by June 1, 2008Actions by May 15th: - Complete my research and hire a programmer to transform website into Wordpress and create blog - Rewrite Home Page - Create the structure for the Resources Division and have 30% of the pages up - Hire a new Virtual Assistant - Have the shopping cart completely set up and functioning correctlyMy coaching and speaking business grossing $100,000 creating transformation and success for my clients by December 31, 2008.Actions by May 15th: - 4 new clients - Create the autoresponder for new Artist's EDGE Members to ensure they get the most value out of the membership - Create a regular schedule for blogging, activities on forums and reading and commenting on other people's blogs.A sexy size 4 by June 15th, 2008.Actions by May 15th - Exercise at the gym x 3/week - Walk in the evening x4/week - T-Tapp exercises x 2/week - Really enjoy my food and eat slowly at each meal.A beautiful home that is a joy to live and work in by May 15th 2008Actions: - Study area set-up and organized - Pictures up on the walls in all the rooms - New roommates furniture organized and arranged - Livingroom - shelves organized and beautifully appointedWoo hoo! Hey, Debra.REALLY glad to see you chiming in on this thread in particular.Really like your take on it. And LOVE the way you break it down. Although I still think a To Do List is a great daily way to stay focused.It'll REALLY take me an overnighter now to try to structure my goals along your suggested lines, but I sure do like the approach.thanks.
