Re: Being Deliberate
Milfus,Great to see you checking in here!Joining Taxi was wise. Submitting to listings and getting critiqued will make it that much more valuable. I hope you are able to do that soon.I remember how crazy school can be, but hang in there. Great job fighting your stage fright. Is there someone that can go with you to support your attempts?Keep fighting for what's important to you,Rayzer

I've fought and lost a few of those battles myself (well, more than a few, retired over it at one point ). I finally had to get therapy for my problem, which I thought was working but lo and behold, turns out the new heart med I'm on has the lovely side effect of curing stage fright! I guess I'm cured. ?? I haven't test-driven it but a few times. So far, so good. Even so, I found therapy to be helpful to pinpoint exactly what was causing it and to help me change my perspective.PM me if you'd like to talk. I'm around. arkjack, bebe, I agree with everyone....take some time, swee'pea. Thinkin' boutcha!

Re: Being Deliberate
Okay so I'm going to add myself to the public accountability list April 15 - May 14:-take good care of self. I've added several new clients over the next few weeks which means more teaching hours, and I have to be organized, and watch that I take care of myself, and don't just move from the keyboard to the computer when work is done.- do books, file taxes (due by April 30th). Gonna take a weekend. Get out the adding machine, the envelopes, boxes & files, and go to it. Don't forget the kleenex.- work on collabs. Got a couple goin' on. Gotta keep up with them & get stuff submitted on time.-compose and submit 4 to 6 instrumentals. Got the listings marked, create & produce the music & submit by deadline.- continue writing screenplay. Yeah, so I signed up for Script Frenzy, wherein one challenges oneself to write a 100 page script in the month of April. eh... I gots lots of writin's ta do. Be nice if I could make 50 pages this first time out.-5 pages of outline. okay so I'm thinking of writing a 'motivational' book. I'm mean, I've been thinking about it for awhile now and maybe it's time? So how about starting an outline of what it's gonna be about and stuff.-be thankful... over the course of the day, be awake enough to be aware of the present moment, feel my breath, taste the air, smell the blossoms, be grateful for this gift of life and music and friends.Hummin'bird Edit - I forgot one thing. Buy that next piece of software so that I can... begin working on the CD.

Re: Being Deliberate
Welcome, Hummingbird!I'm so glad you came on board. We all know we should take care of ourselves and be awake and thankful every hour of every day, so why is that so hard for us humans to do? We have to make a conscious effort to do it deliberately every day. I'm going to set my Outlook calendar alarm to go off every 2 hours and remind me to close my eyes, breathe for 1 minute and be thankful. Thanks for the reminder.Rayzer

Re: Being Deliberate
First, let me say that when I saw you tossing your hat into the ring, Miss Vikki, I was only one second away from jumping up and down. You're such an inspiration to so many of us, and I consider it an honor to be here, there, or anywhere for you, and to offer support for you.THEN, let me confess that I'm so obsessed with waiting to hear from the Kerrville Folk Festival that I'm almost afraid to list my 3 things for May 15th.If I DO hear from Kerrville (and I'm fully expecting to), that will drastically change everything, and in VERY short order. I could go from trying to casually focus on a new tune to semi-panic mode with only 3 weeks to book a flight, find a hotel room, and start 24/7 rehearsal at home while trying to find a musician or two from the Austin/San Antonio/Kerrville area to learn the song and join me on stage...So, how about this:1) I will STOP fretting over Kerrville and continue working on the three new pieces I'm mulling over. {OH, alright, FINE!!!...PLUS, I'll make an attempt at putting words to my insturmental called "Still the One". (Happy now, Rachel?!?!? )}2) I will continue to check in on the "Quit Smoking" thread every single day until I've made it through my first month; and then, I'll hand that thread off to the THREE others who are now also trying to quit (while still checking in regularly).3) I will start exploring other, outside-of-TAXI venues as other possible ways to get my stuff out there (even though my heart will always be here).4) I will try to find a collaborator. I want SO much to do some co-writing, but nobody seems interested in working with me. (...YET!) And I will NOT worry about why that may be... I gotta say, these seem kinda whimpy to me... But for now, they're a good place to start.See y'all here in a month.Ted

Re: Being Deliberate
I will definitely look into it, but right now i literally have to cover about 14 thousand pages this semester, so another class may in fact make my head explode, yeah its bad, I had to give a best man speech for my best friend about 2 weeks ago, and I managed to get it out, but i shook so bad my glass was empty by the end of it, I dunno, its a really deep fear, back in 5th grade my music teacher (hate hate hate) convinced me to sing soprano for that song hold that tiger, next to a guy singing it normal, I had to literally just fight every kid that mentioned it for like 3 years before I stopped getting tormented with it (i was a little guy in school like 4"2 72 pounds, hence the term "fight" instead of beat) but yeah, she messed my childhood alllll up, i think thats the core of it.anyway, my goals are1.) to finish and have a firm grasp on atleast half of these books 2.) to make attempts to hit at least two listing targets, even if they arent finished in time to submit (so when i have time, ill have my game face on)3.) to finish this perfect pitch trainingthose are my 3 for the month
