Re: Best compliment ever
I've had it both ways.... I've had a couple times... (not recently though) when someone with connections offered to help me pitch or even plug my songs.... those complements even though years ago still provide me confidence to keep moving forward..... On the other end of the spectrum.... I was playing on the porch of the trailer (Studio B... that's B as in Beach).... and a crowd of 7 or 8 little kids .... age 5 to 10..... gathered around while I was practicing some songs and writing a new tune..... they would chime in between tunes... "Mr.... we really like your music and the guitar playing and the songs you play.... and you make up some really great songs..... " :- ) : -) :-DArkJack

I actually teared up when I read what he wrote. But I tear up pretty easy... I sure did when I listened to Razor's edge, because it's beautiful. This is also a song your singing would sound fabulous on. My Baby & Me

Steve,Wow. What a beautiful song!! Nadine completely smoked on that. Have you had lots of forwards for it? It's beautifully done, lovely production. I had a lil moment there. (sniffle)

Re: Best compliment ever
Nomi, that is fantastic....to be recognized in that way by higher ups is a nice validation. The best compliment (or compliments) that people give me is when they tell me that I'm a really good lyricist. I dunno, people will say things to make you feel good, but I've been told my lyrics are pretty good. One of the nicest compliments I get is when people recognize what I write outside my main genre, country. I write jazz, alternative, R&B, and it's a good feeling when I get compliments on that because it stretches me to try other things.I am not a very expressive person when talking....I don't know, I can't find the words sometimes, but I can express myself through lyrics for some reason. When people like what I write, that is the ultimate compliment because I feel like I've expressed myself to the fullest and connected with people in a way that I couldn't through regular conversation. I love to put raw emotion in some of my songs...more often than not, those are the songs I don't show to anyone, but I hope to show more of those songs in the future...and with the help of a good co-writer and collaboration....well, anything is possible. To be continued...

But seriously, once I was playing a gig at the Coconut Teazer and after I finished my guitar solo in one song I looked out in the audience and saw quite a few people with watery eyes. Maybe it was just vodka and smoke but I think I touched something.

You are too funny, and I think I have a new title for a song if you haven't patented the phrase 'maybe it was just vodka and smoke." I claim it first...I got first dibs on it!

Re: Best compliment ever
As far as the music of ONOFFON, we had a review a while back written by Jason Spatola on our CD release, Your Mind. He opened with this line -"ONOFFON, the progressive jazz-rock trio from California, has once again achieved perfection with their second release, Your Mind."...and he closed with this -"Your Mind is one of the greatest albums of all time by any artist. I sincerely recommend it to anyone."Pretty outrageous statement to make but I liked it! He still has the review posted on his site -Spatola's Music Onlinehttp://spatolasmusic.iwarp.com/revonyd.htmlOkay - that's it from me... I promise...
