Re: Building a studio computer
I tried different things with the Nero software and also with the DVD program. I haven't been able to get it to work and I've been pretty busy. If I don't fix it tomorrow on my own, I'll bring it back to the shop Monday. I hate when one little thing that seems so easy becomes so difficult. But isn't that how it always is? It's probably why so many songwriters give up... but not us, right? Thanks for the suggestions, Phil and Andre.

Re: Building a studio computer
Uploading an updated recording onto my website, I deleted the original so the links on this thread don't work any more (whoops). I'll post it again. This is the latest version.Musichttp://www.nomiyah.com/dashboard/avgallery/med ... ?p=151#151

Back to the studio computer...I put sound libraries on an external hard drive but I'm still getting low memory warnings. Any tips on how to expand memory?

Nomi, go to the control panel. CLick on "system", the select the tab called "performance." At the top it should tell you how much RAM is installed (that the computer knows about).

Thanks Ed. I followed your direction but there is no performance tab. I did see something that said:2.16 GHZ, 2.00 GB RAMIs this the info Andre was asking about? Does this seem like enough RAM? Or do I need to add more and, if so, how? Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Building a studio computer
Hi Nomi, I use computers alot so thought I would chime in here. If you have 2gig of Ram the you would have to be loading alot of samples to fill that, or be recording at a high sample rate, that would load samples to an enormous size.Take note of these things:1) sample rate, may as well put bit rate down as well, for example 16bit 44.1khz (CD) or 24bit 48khz and so on, up to 192khz.2) Did it say, "Windows virtual memory is getting low"??3) What samples are you using, if any, meaning software and such?Take note of those things and maybe I can help.

Thanks!!!1) Sample rate is 24 bits.2) When I load a sample, it says "Warning: memory is getting low. This may cause dropouts or other artifacts!" Sometimes I can load it anyway but other times get a second warning that says "Error-couldn't load sample (no big enough memory block available)". I can get it to work but some notes drop out.3) I'm using ProTools and the samples that are so demanding are from EWQL Colossus.
