Cocktail Jazz for this ...

Post by PeterD » Sun May 04, 2014 7:53 pm

Hey everyone!

Will this https://soundcloud.com/moanakeiki/black ... ional-2014 work for this listing?? SMALL ENSEMBLE JAZZ INSTRUMENTAL TRACKS are needed by a Music Supervisor working on a long running, world renown, HIT TV Series at a MAJOR STUDIO. They're searching for sophisticated and elegant sounding Instrumental Tracks that could work as background source music for scenes that may take place at a formal cocktail party, a fancy hotel lobby, or a high-end reception. Think of a posh, black tie event with champagne, caviar, and high-powered socialites. Light, sparse arrangements performed by a trio or quartet should work best for this pitch. All tempos will be considered. . All submissions should be at least 60 seconds long. Easy edit points and a buttoned ending will make the music editors happy, but they're NOT absolutely necessary. They're NOT looking for anything that's too big, frenetic, or bombastic sounding. Instrumentals that will play nicely under dialogue are the key to success for this pitch. Please submit original compositions only. All submissions should be at least 60 seconds long. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). Steer clear of anything that sounds stiff or MIDI-driven.

Thanks much for your ears & comments!!

Hey Peter,
Cool tune and nice piano chops! The drums sound like jazz drums to me, and I like the melody and all. But I
must let you know my level of jazz I have followed in the past is more of the guitar driven jazz...say, Al Di Meola
and Geroge Benson type stuff, so I can't help with if it fits the listing or not.
Nice work and good luck!

Cheers,
Steve

Has a nice feel to it. Leaning toward Bossa Nova.... well, maybe a little more than "leaning."

You know, I wonder if you should rein in the reverb on this. It sorta creates a "space." Editors can put reverb on if they want the band to sound like they are in a larger space... right?? :?: (but they can't take it out if it is suppose to fit a scene in a smaller setting)

Your instrumentation is spot on for this.

Good luck.

Thanks Steve!!

LOVE Al's stuff!!! I must have played his 1991 album "Kiss My Axe" a million times!! Ironically, a section of his tune "One Night Last June" was the inspiration for this. 8-)

GREAT point, Russell!!

I will back it down as soon as I finish typing and send it in.
Thank you much!!

Sounds pretty spot on to me, Peter.

There is one little spot, at 0:58, where the fingering sounds conflicting, but then again, I'm no pianist.

Gotta be $5 well spent, I reckon.

Thank you, Nick!!

Eeek ... Sounds like my MIDI edit wasn't edited properly. ;) Hope they don't sweat that blip too much since it's a little late to fix ... :?

Thanks for the listen!

Ah dear Peter,

A cool Jazz Ensemble for a Posh Cocktail Party ... you are so at Home there. Musically I mean :) ;)

Let us ave a listen to : "Black Tie Optional"

Love your choice of Pictures at SoundCloud, it shows the flair of a true Artist, as you are a true Artist indeed.

Oh it reminds me of Hector oh so much ... that was his Home too.   Hector would play the Piano live exactly like that ! He could !

I am running out of adjectives ? Meaning ? It is perfect dear Peter. Very cool. It is superbly Classic.

Nice work--so don't be offended when I say that you nailed the "high-end hotel lobby" vibe perfectly!
