Nice tune, Cam I concur with Bill about getting it done.I'm not crazy about the instrumental break as it is Might just be me.Liked the lyric angle - clever. Loved the outtro!Best of luckLiam

Holy Smokes,This is catchy as anything.Cam- I can see exactly what you are doing here, the verse structure is superb, with a catchy cold feet hook. The chorus is great, such nice chord changes that go so well with the song, almost a song within a song, and the solo break is perfect and at just the right time. Love how you return to the chorus, again super well written.I am commenting on what I hear as song structure. If you are looking for advice on instrumentation, I would say that the advice from others above is dead-on, and if you could redo the guitar with a less synthetic sound, you would do wonders to the tune.Maceman

Cam.... awesome hook! Yes, this song is worth an upgrade to pro demo!I agree with Bill about the contrasting lyrics to help punch it up, and for that same reason I think you could probably do more with trying to create stronger images... using feet and "the road" as jumping off points... For example, not feeling comfortable in your shoes... or coming up with road signs that are telling you where to go... yield, danger, stop, and NO U TURN! Just some ideas.... good stuff!

Wow Cam I'm so impressed with this tune Cam. What a cool laid back song. It may just be me because I can't sang a note and everyone sounds better than I do, but I love your vocals and think they sound great. I think they could sound better if you could use the same kind of affects the Johnnie Cash used you know the big stadium reverb effect I think the song would sound killer. One of your many fans mild Bill

Thanks Maceman. Glad you like it!! Man, I'm sure you guys know how it is... you sweat over something for so long and the whole time you're wondering if anyone is going to like it when you're done.So the elec guitar that everyone has panned is my new RealStrat software. Damn, and I was sooo proud of that too! Built those riffs up one by one... hehe. OK, so now I know. I guess it gets the point across of what I'm after anyway.Bill, Zoom, Liam and Dave... after being on the list for awhile and knowing you guys are always so right-on with your comments to others, it's great to know I'm getting advice from people who know what they're talking about.Good advice on the hot/cold contrast Bill. I'll see if I can work that in.Cameron

Hi CamI like the song and the Johnny Cash vibe. My overall reaction is, as much as it is a good song, to compete as a Nashville pitch it needs to be chorus driven & that chorus has to be a knockout. So I think if the verses didn't go to the "cold feet" tag but led up to a BIG chorus based on that phrase, you'd have a much better shot. I know this means some major surgery and it's easier said than done. The F-Em-Dm-C thing (based on key of C) you have in there is one of those overused things that my personal taste would be to avoid. That might be just me.As you know, I am not a country guy...HTHJMHOFWIW(Did I cover all the mnemonics?) Casey

OK, so now I know. I guess it gets the point across of what I'm after anyway.Hi Cam,Let me just mention that with my own comments, I thought the riffs were fantastic and the writing of both lyrics and music was superb.... So, I just wanted to reiterate from my view, that it wasn't your riffs at all, but rather the synthetic sound of that particular guitar.... If you could replay that all again exactly the same, but on a different guitar (with some verb etc...) then it would be perfect....too bad it wasn't midi so you could just apply some different guitar patches....Casey has some valid points, but i wouldn't throw this take out the window, maybe have 2 versions... I really like this arrangement myself..."The F-Em-Dm-C thing (based on key of C) ..."I think this is a bit different, I get F-Em-Am-G-F which I thought was a very tight musical hook myself.... If anything was done before, I would say it was the F to C walkdown at the end of the Chorus... but again, I loved that.I have no qualms at all, but agree with everyone to have another version to pitch..just in case...macemanps. I am on 35 listens now- too cool...

Thanks Mild Man, R-man, Casey, Maceman. The change is F, E, Am-G-F. Casey, funny but I think that I got the idea from you mentioning a change in one of Perry Smith's songs. I don't remember what you said now but I remember that I thought it was a nice chord change and how I needed to start implementing more interesting changes in my own songs. Not even sure if it's the same change Perry used or not, but that was definitely the inspiration. You hit the nail on the head about commercial viability. Nashville is so fussy these days that I'm pretty sure you could submit the current # 1 hit to someone who hadn't heard it and they'd give you a bunch of reasons why it will never be a hit. Nevertheless, that's my goal so I need to play by the rules. I'm not sure I agree with you that mentioning Cold Feet in the verses detracts from the chorus. In fact, I think it might actually help reinforce the hook, but of course I always worry that the chorus is big enough and that's also the case here. Personally, I almost find it easier to start over with a new song than to do a major rewrite so I'm not sure I'm going to try that unless I hear again and again that the chorus is too weak. Anyway, thanks for the input. Your own material is first rate so I DO know you know what you're talking about.Cameron
