hey cam--ever fix somethin' and not know how you did? i clicked some stuff on quicktime and it now works!ok the song----man, you have this traditional sound that i REALLY like young man. there is something about your unspoken/spoken "wisdom" that shines through on this tune (and your others too...)some comments specifically:--great title/hook--i found the intro just a LITTLE bit long on the entry, but might be just me, listened again and think a slice of a measure or two before you start singing would get us to the song a bit sooner...--your lyrics are very nice, traditional, REAL, and simple.--nice playin' buddy, dig the guitar work! --i can't come up with anything the bothers me about this tune, i like the way YOU sing it by the way, but can hear it demo'd too--my suggestion on this one is to go with a "sage" wise voice that emulates yours as much as possible--hell that might be cam himself!!very nice job guy.oh, only other thing of course as it now streams for the 5th time is to look at the lyrics again and MAYBE, (and do not listen to me if you think i'm wrong-duh.) i'd try to NOT say "cold feet" as many times, you have it in plenty, and try to rhyme a line or two earlier to rhyme with cold feet. might be overdone a bit, but again, who the hell am i to tell you what will work? just a thought...."if it feels wrong, don't try to right it"--great line among many here...dig it man,all the best, warren

Hey Warren,Thanks for the kind words.I think maybe you're right that the intro needs to be cut in half. That will get the song length down to about 3:25 too, which is perfect. The acoustic guitar is a program called Real Guitar. Thanks to Dave Walton for telling me about it. I can't say enough good stuff about this program. It's so incredibly realistic, right down to the fret noises. The electric guitar is called Real Strat from the same company. A little more artificial sounding, but I'm running it through some software effects and I think it would sound more realistic if I ran it through a real amp with real guitar effects. These prograns are about $100 each at Guitar Center. For me they've opened all kinds of doors on what I can record, because my guitar playing is very limited. Hell, I don't even own a guitar anymore. Thanks again,Cameron

Hey Cam,Good song. Though actually it is my least favorite of the 3 songs I've heard from you. Still good enough to demo though. But I am with Casey. It is probably 'just' a film-tv song (like most/all of mine ... lol), so get a master made, get all performers to sign those release forms. I don't think this is a song that will 'sell' to Nashville artists today. It would need a 'bigger' chorus and the lyric I think has a few characteristics that make it unlikely to suit todays Nashville arists, i.e 1) it is just a good old basic lyric, 2) no fancy wordplay, 3) no really great imagery, 4) quite a bit of repetition. It would need more of 2 and 3 to fly in Nashville, imo. But I still like it. DeanPS You might go for a pro critique by a country music expert to verify what I think of the lyric.

Hey Dean,The feedback is much appreciated. Of course my hope is for a Nashville cut, but I know the odds are astronomical and that you and Casey are some smart hombres. I've ordered a Taxi pro critique on it so I'll wait and see what they say before I decide where to go next.I seem to have a problem getting imagery and I guess I need to work on that. I've heard it described as instead of saying "I love you" you need to say what it feels like to be in love, i.e can't sleep, sweating palms, no concentration. Sounds a lot like my divorce come to think of it!Thanks again for taking the time to respond.Cameron

Cam,I had similar problems with imagery on a song I thought was really good, until I got a pro review on it. They pointed out that the imagery wasn't there for a Nashville pitch. I think I am better at it now, but probably still have problems with it to some extent. You'll figure it out.Dean

Hey CamI think getting a pro-critique is a great idea. Also, I don't see a negative at all if a tune is 'just' a potential film/TV track. As you mentioned, you know the odds against an artist cut are astronomical, even for the best songs. If you create something with a particular mood, feel, and lyric phrase that catches the interest of a music library your odds fall into the realm of "it could really happen". Like Dean said, when you finally get it demo'd (after any tweaks you decide on), get a master release. It may cost you more, but it will give you a lot more bang for your demo buck. Don't get "cold feet" about it!! (OK, bad joke )... Casey

Dean - Yeah, I know what you mean. I've been trying to concentrate and the imagery, although I gotta say some of the current Nashville songs are so damn sentimental and have so much imagery and so many twists that they're just flat corny. Of course, there are some really good ones out there too.Casey - Thanks. I'll always go for the highest bar, and if it works out for film/TV too that's fine. I guess I need to start paying attention to the Taxi film/TV listings more. Mostly I've been trying to concentrate on writing and building my catalog.Cam
