cubase sx3 to le4 conversion?

Post by flip » Wed Jun 18, 2008 1:52 pm

Recently I acquired cubase LE4 and when I tried to load files recorded from cubase Sx3 they weren't recognized. So I tried to load cubase LE4 to cubase SX3. It still doesn't recognize them. What's up with that? Can this be done?

I've read that moving files between Cubase platforms that are only one level different will NOT bring over the automation or effects settings. But I've read the project will still open in the newer version (you should be able to move up to the new level, even though all your tweaking is lost).I'm relatively new to Cubase (3 years), so I don't know the lineage...sounds like SX3 came out in or before 2004? So moving to LE4 is a big step...after a while I'm sure they wouldn't bother building code to import "legacy" stuff, as so many things have changed in the new package. I could be TOTALLY wrong in my dates though, so someone please correct me (as I'll be in the same situation some day!).Here's a good place to ask your question though, if it doesn't get answered on the Taxi boards: http://forum.cubase.net/phpbb2/HTH

HTH = "Hope that helps". Lots of those short forms running through on-line communities like this one LOL! (LOL="laugh out loud", btw). (btw = "by the way").OK, I'll stop now!!!Good luck with contacting Steinberg!

I think the problem might be that you are trying to move the session from the flagship version of the older program (Cubase SX3) to the lite/freeware version of the newer one (Cubase 4LE).The flagship version will have a myriad of features the lite version doesn't have. Cubase SX projects should open w/o a problem in the full version of Cubase 4, but not in the scaled down lite version.Normally, you can move up, i.e. from lite to medium to full, or from old to new. But you cannot move down, i.e. from new to old, or full to lite. This is true for almost all software actually.HTH (since you just learned what that means )matto

Aw... and all this time I thought it meant "Heart To Heart".
