EZ drummer anyone?
Well, I got my EZdrummer, installed and ready to go...and nothing. Have tried everything I could to have the drag and drop work and nada. Got a midi track ready in Sonar, got my mouse, point, click, drag...and all Im getting is this little 2 second snippet, not the whole groove. Anyone here familiar with this program? Thanks!

Hmmm...I'm not familiar with Sonar, but I would check www.toontrack.com, register your copy (if you haven't already), and then check to make sure that you have the latest updates for EZDrummer installed. I originally had an issue when I installed it in Logic 8, and once I downloaded the latest update it was fixed, so hopefully that helps!Dan

Re: EZ drummer anyone?
Hey Brinda, I just got ezdrummer about 4 days ago and I run Sonar 7 producer edition. I'm not having a problem with it. I have a feeling that your not letting all the samples load in the little window at the bottom. There are some 200 odd megs of samples that have to load B4 you can hear all the drum sounds. I have a fairly fast system and it still takes 45 seconds to a minute an a half B4 they're all loaded. If this isn't the problem, don't know what else it could be. PM me and I'll give you a phone number so you can call me and I'll try to help you figure it out Hope this helps Steve

Brinda,When you drag the midi file to a midi track in Sonar it is only going to be a measure or two long. If you want to repeat the midi groove you either need to make it a groove clip and drag it for the number of measures you want. ( ie. a one measure clip dragged to eight measures) or copy and paste. When you play a clip in EZ Drummer it will continue to loop but that is not necessarily the actual length of the midi file.Chuck

Hmm...several good points for this midi-computer challenged female. It could be I dont have the latest update...will check that. I went bonkers when I installed it because the Vst just went and loaded into steinberg and not into Sonar. I registered it , I think all the sounds are in there, since I couldnt drag and drop and I was able to make a track from scratch and use the EZ sounds.Chuck, I dont think I even have a measure.Stupid question maybe: If the groove has, lets say, four measures, and when I drag I get measure 1, how do I get measures 2, 3 and 4? and how do I adjust the tempo?

While auditioning the groove, look at the little triangle thingy that moves along the bottom, just below the name of the groove you've selected to audition. If you watch it and count along, you'll see it jump back to the beginning (left end) and move across the screen, when it reaches the right end, the entire groove has played and you should have counted anywhere from 1 to 4 bars. The audition function follows the tempo of the file in Sonar you have open (actually it should work like this in any host). Once you drag the MIDI file to the track, the MIDI notes trigger the EZ drummer plug in and you can change the tempo freely in Sonar and the notes will be triggered according to the MIDI groove and the tempo of your sequence. That's the beauty of MIDI grooves.Just make sure you're dragging the groove from the little window in the bottom of the screen next to the little play button and not trying to drag it from the list of grooves in the upper part of the window.Once you get the hang of it, you'll be creating grooves in no time.Mazz

Re: EZ drummer anyone?
I've got EZ Drummer and I'm using it in Pro Tools. Looks like Chuck and Mazz have already given you a great answer to your question. One other thing that you may or may not know, if you're going to use EZ Drummer, make sure your file has a sample rate of 44.1 kHz. The EZ Drummer files are sampled for that rate. If you use any other any other sample rate, it will GREATLY increase the load time of the samples, to several minutes, as opposed to the seconds it normally takes, depending upon the speed of your machine, of course. Most of the samples in EZ Drummer, at least from what I've seen in the Pop/Rock kit and the Drumkit From Hell expansion pack, typically only last 1 or 2 measures. I don't believe I've seen any that go for 4 measures. I don't use Sonar so I'm not sure where to tell you to adjust your tempo but I would believe it's a session setting. Hope that helps!

The VSt is okay loaded into Steinberg. Most of my VSTs that SONAR uses are there. Go to the plug in manager and you should see the Steinberg/VST folder is automatically scanned by SONAR when it starts. If not, you can tell it to.

HI and thanks for asking the question. Mine arrives tomorrow. I have copied and pasted the above comments for future reference. Between this help and utube, one should be able to pull it off. This is a wonderful site. sincerely Paul
