Funniest Rally Moments

Post by mazz » Mon Nov 10, 2008 1:20 pm

Thought it might be fun to post some funny Rally moments, either ones that happened to you or that you observed. Here's mine:I was in the bar one evening and a nice gentleman came up to me and shook my hand earnestly and thanked me for my help on the forum. We had a nice moment and I thanked him and he turned around and walked away. Right away another guy came up to me and said "You must be somebody by the way that guy was kissing your a**, can I give you my CD?"I must say that cracked me up and I was kind of speechless at the moment! After I recovered, we had a nice, fun chat and on the evening went, but I had to share that with some fellow dots because I would laugh every time I thought about it.Anyone else have one to share?Cheers!!Mazz

This would be funny if it wasn't so embarrassing! Tricia ("che") walks up to me and a few others, and said "Taj just KILLED them up at the open mic!"I looked at her, because she obviously knew me, but I had a "senior moment" and wasn't sure who she was. I asked her what her "online" name was.She said "ERN! I was just at your studio a few months ago with Taj!"I turned a bright crimson, and stammered that she must have changed her hairstyle --- Of COURSE I knew her and her son Taj, whom I mentored this past summer at my studio! Taj and I had a great conversation about recording engineering later, and all was forgiven! Another funny moment talking to Matto: I found out he was born in Switzerland, and I told him that I was 1/4 Swiss, 1/4 German, and 1/2 Finnish. He said "I've always pronounced your online name 'Ernst-i-nen'" which is correct. It's a family "inside joke" combining my German name "Ernst" with the common Finnish suffix "inen." But what cracked up Matto is that I often get PMs with people telling me that because my name is "Ernstein," or "Einstein," they were sorry to offend my Jewish heritage. One thing: I'm NOT Jewish! (Not that there's anything wrong with that: Jerry Seinfeld). Oh, sorry I didn't get to talk to you for a longer period of time, Mazz!Best Regards All,Ern

Raags and others were telling me they were going to place a big dot on my butt (on my jeans that is )... Saturday night, sure enough, there was a big blue dot on my backside... How it got there, I'm not sure but someone looked awfully guilty... There are photos of that... Be patient, some will appear. Casey

People always sorta tired when they get there, then there's so much socializin' they don't get any sleep at all so there goes the memory. I had absolutely no idea you were THAT Einstein! Holy cow! All this time I thought you were Finjewish!

In one of the A&R Listening Panels, they played a track from a girl with extremely red hair. The Panels liked her music so much, they asked for a CD right than and there. After that, everywhere I went people would come up to me and congratulate me on my great music. (We happened to be the only two people at the Rally with really bright red hair). It was funny as hell. I kept telling them "thanks" yes I do rock even though you haven't heard my music yet. I shared that with the other redhead, we had a good laugh.Dave Trotter listened to my Christmas song and said "wow, I like it, it's like U2 and Amy Winehouse making love, a bit creepy but cool. How am I supposed to sleep tonight?" lolHow about the guys with the guitar in the lobby during a break...I leave that for someone who was actually there...Please Share!xoxoxoJVB

yeah that quote that blackdot mentioned was pretty funny. i must say mazz, that i got a good laugh during the film/tv pitch panel when your song got played and dave trotter said, "ah yes, he's one of the first people i signed...why haven't I heard that song?!" and during the mentor luncheon pat pattison was seated with us and making up a love song about me as an example, his lyrics were "your dark flowing hair and milky complexion are like mashed potatoes and gravy." now that is new one....
