You can 'Edit' the track on your page and upload a revised version with a bridge, but it's impossible to guarantee that the screener won't have already screened your song in the run up to the listing completion so you may get a critique based on the version that's currently up there.mikeymike2000 wrote:Correction, it sounds as though you may be able to do this after all. Re: GREAT REVIEW! no forward? Again Listing # S120611PD
Name Todd Schultz Listing # S120611PD
I don't want to live a lfie where I just complain that things aren't fair.
However, I'm beginning to think that there is something going on
to prevent first years from getting too many forwards. (because why would that
person sign up for another 300 dollar year if they had sold several songs?)
Here are my thoughts:
A pretty good review for all of the songs, without any tangible reasons
why they were ALL returned. I don't know what this screener was thinking
also Marking that the songs were all ON TARGET FOR THIS LISTING as well as
receiving high marks in every category. The Katy Perry reference in this instance
is ridiculous because we listened to Teenage Dream before writing this
song, and tried to follow it's structure at the beginning. Once we
got started with the first verse, we just did what songwriters do, and we wrote.
I'm honestly starting to question Taxi's worth and integrity.
I was told that "most people don't get a forward in their first year". I got the first 2/2.
If I am being punished for getting a forward in my first year, or they are just trying
to make sure I continue to put my resources (which I can just barely afford, and
can't really anymore) into not only studio time, but to those 5 dollar submissions.
It seems that they're saying to me "Even if you write a song that we think is objectively
good and On Target For This Listing, we'll tell you, but we won't forward it"
Telling me the "Baby you're a firework" line .... If he's talking about adding
a lead in melody to the chorus then I just don't agree.
Here's the criticism and grading on my 3/3 returns
Title: All Night Long - All 9's and an 8 for lyrics
Again all the right ingredients, its just that unique factor that is so fashionable on the radio right now. Give them something fresh and new. Inspire their reaction..
-NOTE FROM TODD: This is part homage to Lionel Richie's "All Night Long", and this
is an original song. Is that not unique enough?
Status: Forward Return - RETURN!
Style
On target for this listing X (Yes, all three were on target for this listing)
Hard to classify
Not close enough to what listing asked for
Not "current" sounding
Style not consistent enough from song to song for an artist pitch
Right on target for this listing.. although as it also mentions Christina Aguilera and Jessie J, the listing is looking for a little added pop soul in the mix. Note from Todd - (Pop soul should come from the singer, not the songwriter. Soul is in the voice, not necessarily in the demo, or so I always thought)

Hi Todd
Thank you for sending in these three well written songs:) One or two more pushes and a few more added addictive hooks and you're really on to something. Make sure to note the most current pop trends on the radio.. There is a lot going on right now as the pop market has a new energy.. slightly alternative lyrics, one notch higher in melody or unexpectedly pushing for one more hook at the end… Diversity is the key to right now.

The main reason(s) you were or were not forwarded for this listing is:
Push for that unique addictive hook just a little more and your in the sweet spot.
END
I don't really know what to think except that I'm not sure that these guys are forwarding based
on a formula (maybe 2-3 years on taxi = forward 1/4 times it hits the mark?)
I hate calling Taxi because the person on the phone always gives me
some prewritten garbage on the phone about how nobody gets a forward
there first year and other rationalizations
(Though she did today say that she agreed with my confusion on this particular listing. 15 dollars down the drain.
But that's nothing, right? Please tell me if I'm way off base in how I'm feeling. I enjoy Taxi,
but now I can easily doubt it's impact on my songwriting, and say that you might as well
stab a dagger in the dark trying to get "On Target" enough for a forward.
