I think it brings the uplifting feel of the track to a nice climax.
Sadly, its never about what WE think, its about what the screener thinks, and the library, and the music supervisor, and the editor, and the producer.

The editor can always splice it out if they don't want it
.....but before it gets that far the screener has to have confidence that he's recommending top class material to the library, and the library has to have confidence in the whole of the track before signing it and marketing it for TV, and those in 'hot seats' for selecting music for TV need to be confident that their selections have integrity. If we give anyone along that chain any reason to lose faith in our track then it will never be used. Its our job to make everything as good and as appropriate as we can in the first place, but there is no point in expecting that everyone else will see past our music's weaknesses. Sure, they'll edit to get the bits that they want, but its a good plan to try and make sure they can use all of of your track, and particularly the ending.

As said, this one was close to being forwarded, so I'm sure that with a little bit of tweaking it'll get another chance for a similar listing, Good luck! :)

Listened to the beginning and compared it to the end. For me, the change in the moving lines to a 'half-time feel' (my words) in the last couple bars did feel like slowing down when the cue should be driving to the end. JM2C

Overall, your cue is very close to sample ref tracks I've heard. Good job!
Hi Alan,

Thank you for listening and helping to pin this down. Do you agree that the 'half-time feel' in the last few bars is due to the drum track or do you think it's more than that?

Thanks,
Lucas

I really didn't come on this forum to say the screener is wrong because of what "I think". I'm simply trying to understand the feedback so I can get better. Do you have any thoughts on the track or the feedback?

Obviously I didn't write the track thinking it had a bad ending that would just get edited out. Matt Vander Beogh says to write lead-ins and stinger endings because it gives the editor more material to work with. But if the screener doesn't like the stinger ending, then the whole thing gets thrown out, which completely defeats the purpose. Do you have any thoughts on that?

Thanks again,
Lucas

I agree with the screener and all the other replies that there are timing issues that become more apparent towards the end. If the screener had forwarded the track then the library owner would have dismissed it, etc.

Again, I agree with Matt and everyone else who replied, but if any part of the track including the stinger ending has timing issues it will never get past the screener, and that's what defeats the purpose. The track has to be solid in all departments otherwise the library wouldn't thank Taxi for forwarding it because they know it wouldn't get used.
