Quote:I've seen horn players and even horn sections advertising their services. If you know how to write charts, I bet most of these guys could sight read it and give you two or three great takes in an hour session. I think a simple Google search would give you lots of options....MazzI'll put in a plug for a fellow forum member: our own Kathleen (kelysian here on the forum) did a very nice sax track for me (on a tune that just got signed with a library, btw) and is currently doing a flute track for me as well. Very easy to do, we used FTP to send files back and forth, these days a single 3 min. track at 24-bit 44.1 Khz will not take all day to up/download (unless you are on dial-up of course). And even if FTP is not an option there are services like yousendit or good old FedEx with a CD containing the tracks. So check the collaboration corner here on the forum or post something there, you might find exactly what you need right here. I know there are other good sax players around here (bmete comes to mind).I have also used the services provided by Steve at RealLiveHorns.com (I am in no way associated with them). It is a bit more pricey than hiring your local guy or a friend but the results are stellar. HTHAntonio

Here is one of two songs I had forwarded for the recent "Funk" listing asking for JB, TOP, etc.Everything is midi except for the rhythm gits. Like mentioned, I don't have access to real horn sections, and for library listings it would be cost prohibitive anyway.http://www.taximusic.com/song.php?song_ ... eam=1Horns section parts are from Chris Hein Horns, each part played separately, un-quantized and panned.Solo horns are sample licks that I cut up and transposed to fit my needs. A bit of work, but sounds pretty good.

RLD,I checked out the Chris Hein horns on the net. They sound reeaaall good. A bit too steep in price for me right now though. Your track sounds way cool! Worth the work without a doubt. Good job. Oh, and congrats on the forward!ibanez468

Thanks all for the comments...a lot to digest. I was also going to ask if they meant DX7, but I thought....no way. Even thinking FM made no sense.Nice work RLD (and a lot, I bet) putting those samples together. Never really thought about that.I will check out the suggestions, and consider collaboration. it can be done. I did some work on a CD for someone via the internet. They just sent me the files to load up in Cubase and I sent them back.BTW, I am up in Lake Linden, MI about 150 mile north of Iron Mountan. Yes, we have had about 150" of snow so far this year. And for the last week, we have yet to get above 9 degrees. Why do ya think I sit in my studio all night? heh heh...But I love it up here. Peaceful, no worry about crime, wonderful people. I live in the middle of nowhere on a lake. Lots of inspiration.I am gonna re-do this one until I get it right. I have had several that were returned, kept working on them, and bingo....they hit.I have had tons of forwards - 26 submissions and 12 forwards in the last eight months since I joined, so I won't complain. And, ya know, I keep repeating this....these forums are the most valuable part of Taxi. You folks are all the greates. Thanks again.Bresky
