High Energy Rock - Update!

Post by daniel481 » Sat Nov 29, 2008 4:38 pm

*Update: Hello hello, I just finished a second track for this, this one's more in the punk vein, and it's called "Snack Attack" on my page www.taxi.com/dandiaz . If anyone wants to check it out and lemme know what they think, feel free! *Hey everyone,Haven't been around here to much lately, but I thought I'd put something together for this listing:ROCK CUES (SONGS AND INSTRUMENTALS) NEEDED for a couple of new reality shows slated to air on the world's largest music cable network. The Music Supervisor for these shows needs to hear a variety of "gritty rock" - styles can range from Rockabilly, Punk, Swamp Rock, Metal, Southern Rock, etc. The pace needs to be fast and the tone should be wacky, high energy, dirty and fun. You can think in the reference range of Black Flag, Hank Williams III, Suicidal Tendencies, Reverend Horton Heat, Social Distortion, Minutemen, etc. Songs with vocals and instrumentals will be considered - be sure the tempos are fast and the vibe is gritty and "down & dirty". There are no lyrical restrictions here, but the tone should match that of the music - instrumentals are okay too. You can also think along the lines of the music behind "Jackass", for more direction and inspiration. Recordings must be Broadcast Quality (great home demos should be okay). Please submit one to three songs online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a YES/NO BASIS - NO CRITIQUES FROM TAXI - and must be received no later than December 4, 2008. TAXI #Y081204TVSubmit to this listing TAXI # Y081204TVCurious to see what you guys think of the first track I just finished for it. It's called "The Grind" and you can find it at www.taxi.com/dandiaz Any thoughts or tips are appreciated! Thanks,Dan

Hey Dan, you've been a busy dude, glad to see you're back around!this song sounds great like all of your stuff. The listing is so daggone diverse that I"m really not sure what it's looking for. I think throwing this song in will be a coin toss but if it isn't forwarded it sure won't have anything to do with the quality of the track.ok a modification here . . . after seeing the "jackass" comment I think your track fits what they want. Maybe I should read the whole listing before I jump in!

Nice! On target, in my semi educated opinion. The mix is pretty much airtight, only thing I'd ask for is to make it all bigger and a little brighter, which probably happens in post...so most likely good to go.

Dave - Thanks for the welcome back, and I'm glad you like the track!Bill - Things have been busy, but I'm trying to make my way back in here! I agree that this listing seems to be asking for a lot of different things, so I figured I'd just do my best to throw something out at it. This is high energy, at least, and I think it fits in with the Jackass style. Fingers crossed for a deal Mojo - I went backed and made it a bit bigger and brighter, thanks for the tip! Thanks again guys,Dan

Dan, this has got tempo, tone and grit man, great job. My ONLY issue and this just might be a problem with my phones/internet connection/cpu or the like but the kick snare sound like machine guns being exact tone and speed. Just sounds like if your using midi software the the volume levels of your kick and snare strikes could use some varients. Other than that you're bullseye imo... ;-) wta
