How long before your first forward?

Post by dgreer » Fri Jun 26, 2009 1:53 pm

I'm new to Taxi. I wonder how often songs get forwarded. I know it's tied to the quality of the song.. no duh on that! But I want to know how long folks have been at it before you got your first forward.. or are you still at it?

Hi dgreer!Welcome to the forum! Its different for everybody, but my first forward was on my second submission which was made about 2 weeks after I joined. I think I got the notification of the forward about 2 or 3 weeks after I submitted.-Steve

2.5 years to first forward, 3 years to first deal.not TAXI's fault, I had no idea what I was doing when I joined, and it took me awhile to get the tools, skills and craft to be able to get forwards. I stayed a member because I felt TAXI was educating me to be a better writer. Just passed my 5 year anniversary, and have many forwards, and several signed deals. That answer is going to be different for every writer. Some people join, totally ready to go with great tracks, good demos, and the ability to target listings effectively. Many of us do not, and we learn as we go.

Hey dgreer;Welcome to Taxi My first forward was a couple months after joining, with the first deal as a result of that submission being 9 months later. After that, there were different time frames from forwards to deal (anywhere from 2 months to a year), and different ratios of forwards to returns (haven't crunched the numbers lately, but I think it's about 65 or 70% ratio of forwards to return) . . . I am very pleased with how things are going at Taxi, and continue to be very grateful for the educational opportunities provided in this forum and in other services provided by Taxi. ,Suz

First forward on our second submission - about 50% forwards spanning two years - never offered a deal through Taxi.We negotiated deals outside of Taxi with half dozen cable programs, six different indie feature films, and a few student art films. When you play commercially challenged music as we do, it's up to you forge your own identity and open your own doors...Faith, hard work, determination, perseverance, belief, confidence, integrity, and virtuosity... live it... be it... do it...

Hey, dgreer. Welcome to TAXI and the forums.Me? I joined TAXI in Oct. of 2006. Returns, returns, returns on LOTS of submissions, mostly to the wrong listings. On a fluke, I submitted a latin instrumental that I thought was nowhere NEAR finished at the end of Nov. of that same year. Got the postcard about the forward on Jan. 2nd of 2007. So, my first forward was just about two months after joining. And that same song got forward 13 more times before that 13th forward turned into a deal less than a month later...in Nov. of 2007.HTH.Ted

Submitted first 10 tunes between the months of October & November of 2007. Got first 2 forwards (11 & 12) towards the end of November 2007, and 1 at the beginning of December. Been back & forth ever since. Sometimes I get one, sometimes I don't. It depends. I keep at it though. Oh yeah, not a single deal yet. ibanez468
