Dear Cat Herder Deluxe,

As of this writing your "giving back" period has spanned a couple months and 18 pages with more than 3,000 views. All this wonderful advice from a very busy-busy-busy man!!! Anyone who wishes to be a better person can learn from your example.

My resolution for 2011:
Do as the Cat Man do

Yes please!

I've just started working with a library (finally) and I would like to know if it's a "no-no" to record two versions on my own song. Then place one version exclusively with one library and the other (different version) exclusively with another library?

You see, I'm co-writing tracks with another singer/songwriter. I wondered if we could both place our own versions with our respective libraries. Incidentally, the two versions would have different lead singers.

If this in not cool, I won't start doing it.

Hi Cardell,

You would be breaking a contractual agreement with both libraries. Exclusive refers to the artistic composition and I would not accept a piece without both writers signing an agreement. If you pursued this path you would be removed from both libraries and it could go as far as tarnishing your reputation. I hope this helps.
