My pick would be my childhood guitar hero, Dwayne Allman, I still try to write my leads with the type of melodies that seemed to fall out of his fingertips. I always grieve over what he would have done for the last 35+ years. A REAL GUITAR GENIUS!Oh yeah... the others mentioned here were mighty good too.

Jimi Hendrix!I was fortunate to see him live 3 times. His first 3 albums are still an inspiration to me today. Here is a great live clip of Jimi playing Wind Cries Mary.Too bad they didn't show his hands much but the rendition is amazingly close to the record. Notice Jimi's amp facing Mitch Mitchell.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rf-Mtd2A1DIOh, and for the Morrison fans out there. When I was 16, my band Infinity, opened for the Doors 3 times. Here is a poster of 2 of those gigs. Note the date 1967 in the upper right hand corner and the price of admission down below.

Elton John, oh wait he's not dead, he just sounds like he died and went to Vegas.

In my opinion no video I have ever seen of Hendrix captured the essence of standing 30 feet from the man when he was "ON"!Simply incredible...............Winterland in San Francisco was simply electrified by his performance the night I saw him at his best. Words can not even begin to describe actually being there!Watching him at this Woodstock clip is like watching someone plugged directly into the socket with thousands of watts of electricity flowing through his body and he's just riding it like a wave.My favorite section is 3:05 - 3:10................ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHC9bxQkLCQ
