I just HAD to buy it!Actually, it's a Soldano Series II SP-77 preamp going into a Peavey 60/60 stereo tube power amp. It's a great combination, and a lot less $$ than a full-blown Soldano head. You see them on eBay from time to time. Highly recommended!Plus, I don't care for Celestion 12" speakers. My faves are old Jensens. They're a lot warmer sounding.Ern

uh, back to the question for a moment, a few pages back--buddy holly first, man, did he have a great start, and wouldn't it be very cool to see where the kid would've gone. hell, and richie valens for that matter! and john lennon, just so he could (imho) truly ENJOY what he did for us all. maybe he did, maybe not, but man, (some of you are too young for this, sorry....) but when old howard cosell announced his murder during monday night football, the nation felt it. i still do. i'd add roy orbison, but i think he already knew what he had accomplished--but then i bought all his albums, and so many very good tunes man. and...and...so many more, harrison's last album is a very nice treat, it can go on and on. oh, and i'll plug one for my wife--janis. just simple answers, no major thought JOTTOMH- (heck, just off the top of my head.) might not be an official verbage in this lingo land yet..JIC.the best, warren

Yeah, some good choices Warren.Loved Roy Orbison's voice.Buddy Holly and Rick Valens too.Still find it hard to listen to John Lennon's songs. It's so sad that he and George are both gone, but it's the manner in which John went that makes it all the worse. It was about 7.00 a.m here, when my mother woke me to tell me. My immediate thought was that he must have been caught in some sort of cross fire. No-one would kill John Lennon intentionally!!!And for me the saddest thing is that we'll never know what he would have gone on to write.Dave.

Just had a look at the results so far, John Lennon in third, John Bonham from Led Zepp in second and Elvis has the most votes at the moment. I would've thought John Lennon would win this no problem? Freddie Mercury is in forth place, Hendrix is in fifth and Kurt Cobain in sixth.

You'd have to be dead to qualify.and2. It might be a bit tricky making that vote considering point 1.Tell yer what: Leave it in yer will. Then when you croke, all of us still around on Taxi will vote for yer!

Seems to me that re-animating the dead is a pretty serious business, and if it were in my power to do, I wouldn't choose a rock star over Ghandi, Lincoln or MLK. But for the sake of argument, I'll just say I wouldn't choose any, because the ones we need the most deserve better from me than to be dragged, kicking and screaming, from their heavenly reward back to this vale of tears. I think the best I can do is to honor their memory by trying my damnedest to live up to the standards they set.

While, there are many dead musicians that I would love to see again, BUT if I had the power to restore life to someone, some rock star would be WAAAAAAAAAAY down the list.Wodinlord

Jim Croce hasn't been mentioned, so I'll bring him back. I think his stuff would fly right through the Taxi screeners today. His songwriting chops were about as good as they come for imagery, storytelling and character. He had a melodic side and a rowdy side. Almost everything he recorded is classic status, because he died before his masters had a chance to milk him.
