Hmmm... $2 or 3 grand extra, hanging around... I think I'd have ta be a little more frivolous with at least half of it. I might spend a bunch of that on hiring friends to play on demos, and make sure there was also a lot of beer in the studio, maybe some dancing girls. hehe Consulting fees, yeah that's how it would show up on the expense sheet... Wouldn't mind a Rickenbacker 12 string either.

I would seriously consider a UAD2 card.

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

Well, I just recently did this X's 3. Check this thread out. It explains in detail. And shelled out a couple more Gs for a new acoustic, a new electric, and a new 5 string bass. And still purchasing software. Starting to slow WAAAYYY down now, considering what's goin' on with the economic situation. http://taxi.proboards27.com/index.cgi?a ... age=1I-468

I-468,Nice list of gear there. You and I have similar amounts of dated multitrack rigs. Amazing how quickly they come and go-I had no idea until I started counting the old Pro Tools boxes the other day.Appreciate your list. I am seriously excited about Melodyne's coming DNA version. That is one plug in that, if it works as well as is projected to, will become an instant "must-have" for just about everyone.

hmmm... the rally sounds like a good investment idea, and use the rest of the cash for a pay-off to one of the screeners for lucrative forward.yeah, that's the ticket.

Darn!I thought my post went up last night, but I must have missed something here... probably closed it before I pressed "send"... <sigh> Looks like you got most of your bases covered, flood, as I was going to suggest a few things, maybe some repeats by now, from my wish list. So here goes (again):- a new Mac (mine's starting to get wrinkles...)- another backup drive/extra storage space- a midi keyboard and controller- YES! to Omnisphere. I don't have it yet, but my friend has one (yeah, "hi" Allen!), and I'll probably be drooling on his computer when he shows it to me! It's got Atmosphere included now too, which is cool. Eric P and crew know what they are doing, for sure.- Some extra sample libraries, including Symphonic Choirs (EWQL)-- amazing chorus samples-- and Addictive Drums for my production work.- And if I still had money left, I'd take a good look at the Melodyne 3 pitch shifting program. That sounds sooooooooo amazing!! Not to mention what it could do with the guitar chords that we've recorded. I mean, wow, I'd almost be able to make a whole new song from what I've already recorded (or at least change the raga-- hahaha!)!Those are the things at the top of my list. Probably a little $$ than you mentioned, but maybe it will spark a few ideas for ya! Happy spending!! That is so hilarious. I'm sending tensingingfox my money now... Hahaha!! Raags

Thanks for your ongoing input.Over the years I have pretty well covered the hardware basics in terms of mics, preamps, computers, and so on.The Broadway synth sounds fascinating.Omnisphere is already tops on the list.I have tried so many guitar emulations and been so disappointed over and over again. The Realstrat and Realguitar stuff is ok, but it seems you have to spend so much time tweaking each note that hiring a real guitarist is better and quicker, much like the thread about a fiddle in another section of the forums.I did however, find an amazingly accurate rendition of a sax. I expected that one to be among the most difficult, but SaxLab has done a stellar job with their software. No convincing singer in a box . . . yet. . . I peck about the piano keys for the most part, that is the closest I can come to calling myself a musician.Anyone using Kurzweil keyboards? I have heard nothing but praise for those across many decades, and may pick one up.Anyway, thanks for your thoughts, and I certainly welcome more, if you have any ideas.Vikki, I am wavering on the rally trip right now. Not sure why, exactly.I guess I hardly seem like a composer, even though I have a fair number of works being used at theme parks right now. I am very much in the learning stage, and know how far I have to go to even hold an honest conversation with most of you.A trip to the rally might benefit me very much and bore the tears out of anyone unfortunate enough to spend time with me. Maybe I will be there. Sounds fun!

If and when i get around to buying a new axe for gigs, it'll be a controller only, and a Muse Receptor because I don't eve want to pay for a keyboard because of the sounds in it again. That era is over for me. The Road Rally is really about learning and FUN. Listen to Vikki.
