This is one of those little things that really makes me want to use my mac more and my pc less. With a mac, you just drop it in the trash. Done. With a PC you have to go down to the tool bar, click on the little hardware icon, go through the window that pops up and find the device you want to eject, click OK and/or done a few times, and finally you are finished. Why does there have to be so many steps for such a simple task in windows?I'm not an obnoxious mac zealot or anything but there really are some things that apple just plain does better.-Steve

There's a well known electronic music writer named Craig Anderton (who's been around since day one and started what is now Electronic Musician magazine). Anderton says that he knows several people who have smoked their motherboards by "hot swapping" (plugging and unplugging USB and/or FireWire cables) while they were energized. I haven't had that problem myself but I try not to tempt fate.
Jazz guy (writer/player).

It's actually even easier than that on a mac...just click on what you want to eject and press apple-E...and that's it!
