Just a little computer tip!

Post by ibanez468 » Sun Jan 13, 2008 10:06 pm

Hey gals & guys!Just a little tip I thought I'd share with those that have this problem, but haven't found a solution. This is a fix for those times when you can't find the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in the taskbar (for Windows users). It just recently started happening to me, and I didn't care much for unplugging these USB devices without doing that first. After reading this article, come to find out that it's not a good practice. This helped solve the problem though. Hope this is useful!http://ask-leo.com/safely_remove_hardwa ... libanez468

I solved this problem by using a Mac Couldn't resist, bro! Mazz

Marc,According to the article, here's the concern:"And that's the fear - if you remove something like a USB thumb drive without first telling Windows, it's possible to corrupt the contents of the drive. In practice that doesn't happen often, but it's possible."This may be what caused one of my external Iomega HD drives to stop functioning. Not sure. But it won't show up with the rest of the drives when I plug it in.ibanez468

Marc,It's just a username I decided to use a long time ago. Actually, I used the name long before I even owned an Ibanez. Figured not too many people would use such an odd name. There's more ibanezs' out there in cyberworld than just me though, believe it or not. My fav guitar currently is the good ole' Fender Strat. I have several others, but that one is usually my main one. Most times it just depends on what kind of music I'm trying to make, that dictates what guitar I use.ibanez468

Actually you have to do the same sort of thing on the Mac too. You just drag it to the trash or right (or option) click on it and say "eject". The same concerns with losing data are cross platform.Just ribbin' you guys a bit! Mazz
