Hey, Ya know, I could go for some Tia Maria Cheesecake with a good cup of coffee. Only problem is, I haven't been able to find Tia Maria Cheesecake in probably ten years.I can hardly wait 'til the Interferon is all done. I miss my cigar and Killian's Red on the front porch with a pen and note pad. Unfortunately, the first two are No-No's. Only ten more weeks, though. I can live through that, I reckon.

10 weeks - it will fly by! I'd bake some brownies and send them but you really (I mean REALLY) don't want to try my baking - my husband manages to get the brownies down with enough ice cold milk, but he's probably just being nice. Just think, you'll be ready to eat well by the time the turkey is cooked in November.Hope your feeling a bit better Walt and that your wife is doing well too!

Oh, we're both looking forward to November. We got a deal on a second honeymoon in Cancun . By then I should be able to enjoy a Corona in a hammock . I think we'll both have earned some R&R 'neath the palm trees. Especially my bride. She worries too much about me and deserves a break.

Dr.'s!!!!Went for a follow up after my little hospital stay. After telling the Dr. that I am on Interferon AND that the shortness of breath is one of the side effects, He starts talking about gall stones. GALL STONES?!!!! This was nothing like a gall bladder problem at all. I know. My wife had hers out.Are Dr.'s trained to plug their ears and just think what they want to?Do they still do research when patients have certain symptoms and know what the problem is?!!ECD and Interferon are both easily looked up on the net. I know I have the enjoyment of both .GEEZ!!!Good thing I'm headed to Houston where they know what they're talkin' about!

Maybe doctors are trained(by HMO's and financing) to hear whatever they currently want to explore with patients... kind of like lawyers...put your hard hat on, and bullshit detectors

BUT that is mitigated by living in this litigious society where if they don't check every angle they could get sued. You WOULD think that since they know you are interferon which has dramatic side effects, they wouldn't rush into anything unless it could be life threatening, especially when they know you going to Houston so soon.Good luck in Houston!! Hopefully the heavy hurricane rains will miss that town... Casey

Re: Just a request.
Well, after giving up on Carelift, time was running Way short, we bought tickets through Priceline to Houston this a.m. So, I go to the hospital to get the last of the records I'll need in Houston, and wifey gathers up the trash and heads for the dump. While we were gone, guess who called. Carelift says,"We have your pilots lined up all the way to Houston". This was about 4:30 pm. They close at 5:00. Thus, we had to call Priceline with some fast talking and get a refund. Since, oh poor wittle me , I'm critically ill, they gladly (I guess) refunded our $450.The fun? Well, we catch a flight from Asheville to Birmingham, then from Birmingham to Mississippi, and finish out the trip on still another plane to Houston. But, by gosh, we are on our way!!There's gotta be a song in this somewhere!!!Oh, there already is one: "I'm on my way I don't know where I'm goin'".......I think it's by Freddie Fender.

Re: Just a request.
Walt, you gonna be flying into Gulfport in Mississippi then? That's jes up the road from me......if you need anything, please let me know.I didn't read the rest of this thread but you goin to MD Anderson?Oh, and btw, having been a hospice worker and a BC gal (and now dealing with PTSD patients post Katrina), trust me, there're lots of technicians who call themselves physicians but very few physicians....the ones who read up, are intuitive, compassionate and, frankly, intelligent. I hate saying that. I hate even knowing that. Meantime, I'm serious. Let me know. I go to school at a university in Gulfport so if you're flying in there and you want me to meet you with whatever you need (or jes to say hi), you jes say the word.Hope

Well, we're in Houston at MD Anderson as we speak. Waiting on a CT scan, MRI's, and bone scan. Have a needle in my arm right now so they can inject more dye in me throughout the day. Fun, fun!!
