Well, are y'all sittin' down? I got my retroactive disability check in the mail . Talk about a load offa our minds. We're gonna pay my truck off and then, since we been sweatin' this for a while now, we're thinkin' about either the Canadian Rockies or the NC coast just to say, "Aaah! We made it!!!".I've been to the Opthalmologist, and he was just giddy. My vision has improved to 20/20, my eye movement is great and my inner eye looks good. I do hate getting my eyes dialated, though.I've been talking to an herbologist, too. So, now we're talking about knocking some meat and sweets out of my diet, eating lots more veggies, fruits and nuts and doing some Colonics (plus, for Christmas, I got sweet-thang and me a gift certificate for a 1/2 hr massage). I am, at the very least, going to be mucho healthier. For anyone with an interest, I've set up a group on TeeBee and FaceBook (Yeah, I know) to educate, update and beg. The cites are http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/grou ... 9677612293 & http://www.tbd.com/group/2046/discussion/1025692/show . I'm just trying to take the bull by the horns! Thanks again for all your thoughts, prayers and all else.

Canadian Rockies and NC coast are still on my list of places to visit. Looks like you'll get to one or the other before I do. I'm knocking out all those "bad food" items you mentioned... AFTER the holidays. Take care,Dave

Well, my bride sure deserves it after carrying us on her pay alone for over a year. I'm looking forward to some actual time together to just relax.

Well, we're leaving for DC this Sunday. Gonna drive a rental, 'cause I ain't sure I trust her car for that distance, I can't drive that far and she can't drive a stick (shift) . I am looking forward to the change of scenery.

Got a postcard from NORD (Nat'l Org. for Rare Diseases), and they have been able to fund several researchers around the world to seek out better treatments, a cure and prevention of hystiocytic disorders (one of which is Erdheim-Chester). YEEHA!! I think part of this is due to their finding more ECD in children, now. Before it was considered a more middle age occurring disease. Have I told you guys about our new web site, www.erdheim-chester.org ? It's a much more user friendly site with more English than Latin .

Filling in the blanks....Man, what a bunch of people!!! The cold and lack of movement did no favors for my legs! Kinda lost my steering and got rubbery. Made climbing the barriers they put up, w/ no warning, hard to climb. But, we managed. We watched the inauguration from the vicinity of the Museum of National History. When it came time to leave is when my legs got funky. Tiny little steps w/ constant pushing from behind. We walked all the way to the train station entrance at the river. The nearest station was a nightmare coming in. So, we knew it would be impossible with the crowd that was leaving. That was about a 45-60 min. walk. Man! Did that help my legs. Finally got some blood flow. But, all in all, it was worth it. We have a small piece of history to tell our kid (s) about (Ha! Like kids ever listen ).Plus, we got to see the Museum of National History, The Aeronautics and Space Museum (Way Cool ) and the Museum of Natural History. AND, we got some GREAT eats at "Poets and Busboys" (I had Charred Salmon ). First time performed poetry has captivated me and yanked my heart strings. I got to meet her cousin w/ hubby. Neat folks! He spent two days prepping spaghetti sauce for our visit. They drove us around to catch glimpses of the Pentagon, then that bldg. where all the lobbyists buy off senators and congresspersons, the White house and more that I can't remember.I learned that DC's soft pretzels suck compared to Philadelphia's, Casey .We got home at about 7 pm Wed. and spent three days recovering. Oh, Mayun , were we exhausted. 'Course, one must take meds, 8.5 hrs driving, my sweet wifey worrying about how I'm handling all this, crowd fighting, ECD, etc. into consideration. We, however, brought home some neat memories. Also, I proved I can do anything I set my stubborn ('scuse me, bluebarry), I mean ornery mind to do. Now, we have our Canadian Rockies trip to plan for June/July , her B-day is Feb 4 and, as of March 27, we'll have been married 10 GREAT years. Sure doesn't seem that long. More like 3 or 4 yrs (I know. I'm a sap. I do love being married to my gal, though ). I am a very blessed man .
