Hey "B",Got it! I've only used it sparingly so far, but I likes! S'got tons of sounds and things: Orchestral, World, Urban beats to name a few. It's a fantastic sampler, IMO. Got just about everything you could possibly need for production. This puppy works off of .wav files, so you can do your own editing, add effects, etc...it even reads your other hard drives, so you can always incorporate your own audio. I haven't had time to really put it to the test just yet, but I can pretty much tell it was worth the investment. You can use it in your DAW (not sure about Reaper) or standalone. So all in all, I think it's a very versatile sampler. I used it in one tune I have posted (Industrial Twist?? post) and all the metal clanking, hits & sounds came from it. That's all I've used it for so far. There's a bit of sophistication to it when you dig down into the power of it, but it doesn't seem too bad in terms of grasping how it all works. Might take a little reading and experimenting, but I'm sure it's not something we can't all figure out. If we can figure out how to work with all of these DAWs, surely we can figure out how ta' work this. Worth the investment IMO. Mazz or Matto can probably elaborate on it moreso than I. I'm sure one of the 2 (or both, or whomever) will chime in, and give ya' more details.I-468

Hey I-468,You used it on your track? Awesome coz I listened to ur track (I think called In-dus-try-alzed or sumin) and thought man I need to get sounds like that!!! Brilliant... coz I was deciding on which between EastWest Collosus and this, and I heard the audio demo's off of the website and they were awesome... didn't know the orchestral library is Vienna... NICE!!!!Yeah I'd be really keen to hear what Mazz/Matto have to say about it as I really need a sampler with General sounds so I can add more to my tracks other than cheesy effects...Thanks for the heads up I...Take careB

I didn't know about the Vienna library either at first. It's pretty cool! Something you could possibly utilize along with EWQL Silver or Gold.Quote:Yeah I'd be really keen to hear what Mazz/Matto have to say about it as I really need a sampler with General sounds so I can add more to my tracks other than cheesy effects...Yeah, they have way more experience using it than I do, so I'm pretty sure they've learned some really neat tricks by now. Actually I think I remember Matto saying that he has Kontakt 2, but I can't imagine them being incredibly different from each other.Quote:Thanks for the heads up I...No prob!I-468PS -- BTW, just got a call this morning from my Sweetwater engineer, and he said Gold is being shipped to me today, and I should have it in the next day or 2. Ooooo! Can't wait! Then I can send off for this East West freebie. That oughtta' be fun too, once it arrives.

Well, since my ears are burning, I'll chime in here (I'm at the coffee shop checking e-mail and cruising through before getting back to the studio).I actually just got Kontakt 3 with my new computer and I've only so far set up some templates for my strings. It pretty much works the way Kontak 2 does. It looks like the editing may be a bit more intuitive and there seem to be more effects available. Also, the reverb is pretty nice. It's a convolution reverb and you can load your own impulse responses. The big selling point for Kontakt 3 IMO is the much expanded library. For someone who needs an infusion of general sounds I think it's a no-brainer! Also, as ibanez pointed out, it can read wav files and it can also import older libraries such as AKAI or EMU. It can read REX files and even ACID files if I'm remembering. Also, many libraries that use the Kompakt player can be loaded directly in to Kontakt. FYI: some libraries may not be totally updated to Kontakt 3 capability but I"m sure they'll come around soon enough.Overall it's pretty powerful. Unless you're using Logic or ProTools which already have samplers available, I think Kontakt is the best thing going for soft samplers.Just my .02$ (well, maybe .03$ to make up for the exchange rate!).Off to the studio!Mazz

err hum I do believe the exchange rate would be $0.4 which is £0.2, hahahah just kidding...Brilliant thanks for the info Mazz, that's what I'm looking for. A sampler with everything and I was listening to the sounds in this bad boy and was extremely chuffed... Would you say the sounds are definately usable for e.g. I want a good sounding piano, would they pass (for instance in a Taxi submission, with tweaking) for a realistic sounding instrumentation - if that makes sense?hmmm... Coffee....Take CareB

Well 'B' you could not have got a better explanation of K3 then you got from Ibanez and Mazz.I got Kontakt 3 a few months ago and after the first installation ik-ups to set it up on an Intel Mac, I never looked back. I will say that Kontak 3 its great especially the new library it comes with. The sounds are good and you got good options.Good investment.

My favorite Sampletekk piano is the 7CG but the Black Grand is very good too! Make sure you have a lot of hard drive space for the 7CG. I'll be posting some of my film stuff soon and I'm using the 7CG on it. It really sounds like a well recorded Yamaha.Cheers,Mazz
