LIMITLESS...

Post by matto » Mon Mar 28, 2011 9:22 am

Thanks to the eagle eyes of Richard Emmet who spotted my name in the credits (thanks Richard!!) I found out I have two songs in the movie 'Limitless' starring Bradely Cooper and Robert De Niro (!), which opened last weekend in the number one box office spot... 8-) 8-)

I saw the movie last night and 'heard' my songs (you do have to pay attention or you'll miss them :D) and saw my name scroll by in the credits...twice! 8-)

If anybody has seen the movie, or is going to, my songs are in two restaurant scenes, the first one when the main character Edward first meets the Russian loan shark, the second one in the very last scene at the Chinese restaurant...

This is what I would call an 'indirect' Taxi success story...while the connection with this company didn't come as a result of a Taxi listing, the songs that caught their attention were written because of a Taxi listing and were in a style I would never have thought of writing had it not been for that listing...

After over ten years of writing production music and what must now be thousands of placements, I must confess that hearing your music in the theatre and seeing your name scroll by on the big screen is still a special thrill.

A detail that may be interesting to Taxi forumites is that I wrote both of these songs years ago, in 2002 to be exact. Both have enjoyed a number of placement thru the years but this is their 'greatest achievement' yet. ;)

Wow! Congrats Matto. I have not heard of that movie, but I'll have to check it out. Must be pretty surreal to hear your music in a movie....in the theater......while De Niro is in it!!!
Cool stuff :D :D :D :D

Hey Matto -

How cool is that! My wife and I almost went and saw that movie last weekend. We usually stay around for the credits and Im not sure if I would have spotted your name, but if I did, I would have said "hey - I met that guy last year in LA - I'm this close to famous!" We will for sure check out the movie this weekend.

Anyway, congrats. You are a inspiration to us all. Thanks for always being willing to share your stories, successes, failures - have you had any of these :) with all of us. A round of drinks on me at the next Rally!

Nice one!!! DeNiro!!

I'm sure this one is much better than the one we went to see during the Rally a few years ago, that Christian Bale one that sank out of sight fast (can't even remember the title!)! :| 8-) Still, it's great to get in a nice big film and a screen credit is fantastic!! Woo Hoo!!!

Thanks for sharing your success and for all the sharing that you do, Matt. You are a great friend and mentor and deserve all the success you achieve!!
