Hey - I'm more of an Amy Grant type myself. I prefer story-based lyrics that don't preach. "She Was Always There" is a sample of that. Hummin'bird

Pitterpatter, have you tried listening to Nichole Nordemann? I think her stuff has always been on the fresh side. It's not P&W, but some of it is close.August... do you have any "a la" styles that you want to mimick?

I haven't heard of Nichole Nordemann Rockinthebox but I'll check her out as she sounds interesting. I have to agree with you as well, Hummingbird. Amy Grant has a unique approach too and I'm sure it explains her phenomenal success as an artist. Just about everyone has heard of her and her songs, even people who are not particularly interested in the whole Chirstian genre.

I guess you have to figure out how overtly christian you want the song. Very...as in P&W, or extremly subtle as in ...U2.

Hey Guys:Vicki, we should have talked about this at breakfast. We never really did get a chance to discuss lyrics, etc...Pitter, you hit the nail on the head. It's really tough to find something fresh in the Christian genre. The P&W thing can get pretty sappy at times. Rock was right about Nordemann. She's another one that has a fresh way of looking at things.Rock, it's really hard to put my finger on a musical style, in so much as the style of lyric. (Not sure if that sentence even made sense!) Usually when you ask people about Contemporary Christian lyrics, you'll find it more in the style of P&W. The genre becomes quite confusing when you have the Gaithers in the same bin at Target with Amy Grant, Rock and Roll Worship Circus, Big Daddy Weave, and POD...Anyway, I'm going to continue on my search. It's always tough when someone sends you something, and it's not quite what you're looking for. You feel like you have to apologize. The lyrics might be great, but just different than the direction you're heading...Blessings,

Just let me know if there's something I can help with. I'm always willing to give it a try, anyway

Well, my thought was I could tailor make you something if I had an idea of what style you want. I have a couple of rock style, some ballads, and some story style ones as well.

Rockinthebox and everyone who recommended Nicole Nordemann. You were right about her. Her version of "My Redeemer Lives' sent me to some other plane of existence and I don't want to come back. Beautiful.
