I know canned music makes chickens lay more eggs and factory workers produce more. But how much more can they get out of you on an elevator?~ Victor Borge

When people hear good music, it makes them homesick for something they never had, and never will have.~ Ed Howe (1853-1937)

"If one can focus one's heart on music, it is just like warming something which was frozen. The heart returns to its natural condition, and the rhythm regulates the beating of the heart, which helps to restore health of body, mind and soul, and bring them to their proper tuning. The joy of life depends upon the perfect tuning of mind and body."Inayat Khan

Art is a jealous mistress and if a man has a genius for painting, poetry, music, architecture or philosophy, he makes a bad husband and an ill provider.~ Ralph Waldo Emerson I guess I'm not a genius at music after all.

I start a lot more songs than I finish, because I realize when I get into them, they're no good. I don't throw them away, I just put them away, store them, get them out of sight.~ Johnny Cash

I don't throw them away, I just put them away, store them, get them out of sight.~ Johnny Cash Often I save pieces from unfinished songs. Later on, I might be (for example) looking for chord pattern for a bridge, a chorus, or something. Sometimes with key changes I can glue things together. The chorus in "Painfully Single" is a chord pattern from a song I had written many years prior, transposed to fit. The bridge in "Physical World" came from another song. BTW, the bridge in "Physical World" is my favorite part. Not comparing myself to them at all, but Lennon & McCartney were great at this- stringing together pieces from each of them such as in "We Can Work It Out" and "The Two Of Us".Don't throw anything away! Casey

I'll let you in on a little secret of mine:Most people throw away their no-good songs, that's where I get mine. A little dumpster diving pays off well. The only problem is that the songs are... well, no good.
