Mix sounds good, only thing I'm thinking is you might want to try the shaker on the off beat if you haven't already.

very sweet shell...i think losing an canine partner is tougher than losing a human one. i have had goldens too, devastating when they each passed. heart goes out to you.

for your great song, i would introduce another instrument at about :46 for dynamic build, even just a touch of percussion would work. i like the congas when they come in.

i would not use both the humming and whistling, just one or the other, to keep the feel of the song more intimate.

overall i really like the sweet/sad tension...the lightness of the uke and your melodic vocal contrasting the heavy subject of the lyrics...very nice

Sweet song. I like the idea of introducing a kick drum somewhere. Maybe just on beat one? Too much kick might make this one feel too upbeat but I think there is a place for it somewhere.

it's coming together nicely shell! i like the space your vocal is in now. i know what you mean about not sure if you like it...sounds kinda doubled? may just need a slight tweak, but the good thing is, now it feels like it's in the same 'room' with your uke performance.

Shell,

It's coming along. At 1:08 I think there needs to be some percussion added. Something simple that bridges the rhythm from the simple kick drum to the when the full rhythm kicks in later in the song. A single bongo hit on the down beat? A finger snap? A tambourine? I'm not sure, but hopefully you get the idea.

Hey Shell, did you think I meant 1 and 3 (ie, the downbeats)?
Or did you try offbeats and they didn't work? Coz what I meant was putting them in between the beats 1, 2, 3, 4. So they'd be on the "ands" of all the beats.
Like this:

1-shake-2-shake-3-shake-4-shake, etc.

Did you try that and it didn't work?
