Or did you try offbeats and they didn't work? Coz what I meant was putting them in between the beats 1, 2, 3, 4. So they'd be on the "ands" of all the beats.
Like this:

1-shake-2-shake-3-shake-4-shake, etc.

Did you try that and it didn't work?

Didn't try that yet, I will try it and see what it sounds like ;)

It's coming along. At 1:08 I think there needs to be some percussion added. Something simple that bridges the rhythm from the simple kick drum to the when the full rhythm kicks in later in the song. A single bongo hit on the down beat? A finger snap? A tambourine? I'm not sure, but hopefully you get the idea.

Gotcha!

lol, I can just imagine you laying down the shaker on 1 and 3 thinking "hmmmm, not so sure about this. Uncbilly seemed to know what he he was talking about. Maybe there's something I'm not getting.....Or maybe he's just the crazy old guy at the bar with a bunch of faded tats a bandaid on his forehead"

BTW, not to co-opt your very personal song for commercial gain, but the line "you got into my Heart" especially the way you're delivering it, totally hooked into me. Petco could build a whole campaign on this.
I'm thinking that 1:45- on would be a perfect backdrop for a montage of pets and their peeps having fun, hugging, etc. You'd have to edit it to fit, and maybe a couple of very minor tweaks, but the playing, vocals, and song itself sound spot-on to me. You're perfectly believable as an "every-owner" in this performance. Hmmm, maybe it's because it IS real. Imagine that. Commercial viability through artistic purity. Who knew? :D

Hi Shell,
This is really coming along since I heard it over at gyaws, (sniff, sniff...)
I think the shaker should definitely go on the off beats. I like the congas and accordion that come in later.
If I wasn't a cat person, I would definitely be a golden retriever person, I've known many great ones. Our best buddies life-spans are way too short.
Take care. -Rob

Ha ha uncbilly!!! No. I was just trying the 1 and 3 first. But I will try what you said for sure. And I am going to put a montage together of my dogs pics and videos and post on YouTube and yes I would love to get it in a pet commercial. Wouldn't that be great !! Thanks for your kind comments!

Ok

Phew here is another mix, with the shakers at the off beats and a tamb added at verse 2.

I am going to add a harmony in the second and last chorus

OMG, Shell, this sounds great! Got lotsa space in the mix and everything! Love the shaker, TAmbo, congas. love how they each come in one at a time, Got the shaker swinging with the congas. Got everything swinging around the vocal. pump organ hits at the right time, Rhythms are all solid, Love the ending.
Yeah, this is sounding Primo. Double Level up on this version. Great work!!
