Re: DSM Thread Removed ? Moved ?
Hi,I believe that TAXI doesn't want us discussing companies by name so they probably removed the thread. Its probably a good idea to contact TAXI with your concerns, I have a feeling they'd be happy to hear what you have to say.Good luck!Mazz

imagine if John Williams and Trent Reznor met at Bernard Hermann's for lunch and Brian Eno was the head chef!

88 - I sent you a PM last night to tell you that your post was likely going to be removed as Taxi doesn't want client names published on a forum accessible to everyone on the internet. I recommended that you contact Taxi directly and tell them your story and discuss your concerns with them. I know they would want to hear from you and see if they could help. Please call the toll-free number at the top of your screen. And please go to your post above, click on "modify" and remove the client name from your post.H

It's unfortunate that the XYZ Strangeness !!! Thread was removed.I think that it's important for Taxi members to be alerted to libraries/companies that are doing business in an un-professional manner. Not every post here will be a positive one and it will help to give Taxi even more credibility to have more balance in the types of posts here.

I agree that it shouldn't have been removed, but thank you eekeys for posting it, I'm lucky I saw it before I became involved with the company. I think we should have a right to tell people via PM if we are asked.

It is searchable and is available for reading by every single person on the internet. Your posts may be authored by you but they are hosted by Taxi, who could also be held liable for what is said. Therefore I understand their caution. What should happen now is that concerned members like you should contact Taxi with their history, and ask them to investigate. Taxi has a vested interest in screening clients and not taking listings from clients whose business practices are questionable.

With all due respect, I would not base my decision to take a deal based on one post on the internet. If this company was to contact me, I'd be on the phone to Michael Laskow to discuss my concerns. I'd check the deal with my entertainment lawyer & then weigh my options.

Not directed at you but there's lots of people that don't really know anything about deals. We've had lots of "I'm getting ripped off!!!" posts when they're offered a standard 50/50 deal or a deal that's "exclusive". So just opening up posting so that people can "name names" or post exaggerated rants isn't in anyone's interest. If I don't like the service at a restaurant, I'll talk to the manager or owner... not take out a newspaper ad.

I don't see how Taxi could be liable for hosting a public forum/discussion group. They, Taxi, would be liable for a "discussion ? " Anything is possible, I guess.Anyway, it is best to sign with any number of libraries out there that are non-exclusive and that give you, the composer, a fair deal. A proper deal. You, the composer, keep the copyright and only license the tracks for a 50-50 split and nothing less.

Dave, I talked with the lady at XYZ Producers and she said that she would call me back with some details on the current status of the compositions. This is before the Beijing Olympics. She never called back. I left several subsequent phone messages with no reply. So, I finally sent a registered letter which she refused. Twice. If that ain't "talkin' to the manager/owner" I don't know what is.So, there does remain a question of, "what happens to those tracks now." If she has refused notification by mail, which is in the contract, where do I go from here to free up those tracks ?Good question, no ?
