If I'm not mistaken, if you go to the "mixer" section of Stylus, and switch from "multi" to "kit", not only are you able to program your own beats using your MIDI keyboard, but you also have an abundance of kits to choose from as well. I haven't done it lately, but I do recall being able to lay down my own beats in Stylus when going into this mode. I think it's probably so convenient to just drag & drop loops, that people may overlook the fact that you can actually play drum parts using your MIDI keyboard, at least it did the one or two times that I tried it. It's been a few years since I tried, but it worked back then. Surely that hasn't changed, has it? I-468

Re: Stylus RMX vs. Addictive vs. EZdrummer...
I'm another one who uses both Stylus and EZdrummer. I think Stylus has better sounding drums, but not enough that are close to what a real world rock band would use (which is what the majority of my music is), but more urban/electronica/hip hop/etc. So EZdrummer or something similar is also a must. I have all the expansions for Stylus and all but maybe one or two for EZdrummer.I use Stylus for most of my cymbals, though I do also use it for beats whenever possible. I think it has better cymbals.

I only have the kits that came with & I've been told the extras you can buy are much better. Seems like most people are using combinations of a few things . . . here's a track I did with Ezdrummer and a percussion loop from discrete drums. I was trying to think outside of my normal "box" on this song. . .(???!!!)http://www.billgaunce.com/song/0and an instrumental with the same drum combinationhttp://www.billgaunce.com/song/85I'll tell you what. I've got EZ Drummer, and I love it, but I found a site http://www.groovemonkee.com/home/ that I love. There are a ton of great grooves that you can buy that are mapped for Reason, EZD, BFD, AD, etc...I've used both and have had a few of the screeners compliment me on "live drums." Gotta love that.
