I have to agree. If you can make a mix sound good on NS-10's they will indeed sound good on anything! They are NOT flattering to say the least. The story I heard was that Bob Clearmountain atcually chose those (this was before they became an industry standard) because of their crappiness. He thought they seemed typical of what most consumers would have in their homes.

Blue Sky System One and a pair of UREI 809As I picked up for a lowball offer on eBay (powered by a Hafler 9505 amp that's really good). There are many better large monitors than the UREIs today, of course, but I wasn't shopping for $6k monitoring systems (amp + speakers) - I already had the amp sitting around doing nothing and stumbled across a great deal on the speakers.Plus I really like them, I also really like the Blue Sky system, and the two speaker systems are great since they offer very different opinions of the sound.

I'm using a pair of M-Audio BX5a's and am really happy with them. My listening environment isn't the greatest, so I went with a near field set up. I've gotten a bunch of forwards so my mixes seem to be up to par. Mewman

Event Project Studio 8's. They're not the top of the line by any stretch of the imagination but I'm used to them.I have a pair of Avantone MixCubes for checking midrange EQ for TV work. They're all midrange but they are great for hearing what's sticking out too much. Gotta keep the music out of the way of the famous lady's voice if ya wanna get played! Cheers,Mazz

Yeah, that Blue Sky system looks like it puts out some major dbs. I'll bet it's well worth the price! Can't get to THAT level of musical equipment until I start makin' some bank like Nick though. I-468

I use some OLD (like '94) Alesis Monitor Ones with some whatever amp as my secondary "balance" monitors. My main speaks are the Focal Twin 6 BE... they're pretty great, but not cheap, but they're probably the most important piece of gear in the room, so I figured it was worth it. For a grand less the Focal Solo 6s are GREAT monitors for the money.

Hi!I use M-Audio BX8a and I liked these monitors since the moment I plugged them. But recently, I've put under those monitors a pair of Primacoustic Recoil Stabilizers to damp the "sound of the wall" and now, what we hear in the control room is the sound of the monitor only and working in my control room is a lot of fun.
