silvercord,Sorry, didn't see that you asked about our mic til just now.We had a trusty Sure 57 I believe. We are working our way up the food chain. We just got a RODE NT2-A We were looking for something in the $300 price range and several different sources referred this model, so that's what we went with. Love it so far. We mainly record Urban, R&B, Hip Hop type vocals. This supposedly gets the lows really well. I guess time will tell.Of couse we have DREAMS of getting a mic that I will not even mention because it costs as much as the used Sebring convertible we just bought.

Hi geoff: I have a landing going down to my basement. I boxed it in, glued in the acoustic panels, lights and presto a vocal booth. Anyone over six feet must stoop to get in. If you walkin in going check, check etc, the difference when you get inside is amazing. Also put in a monitor. Hardly professions, but very cheap to construct. I like your gadget. later Paul

jmeraz... not to joke..your tech. is very effective...in fact, when i did an over the 'net collab with one of my fav.ambient composers (under moniker of "Altus")...for the openingtrack he recorded a small antique music box, since the frequencieswere really brittle and high..recording in even a padded room would sound a bit airy...instead, he did an x-y mic placemen on his bed, under the coversit sounded dry as...hmmm dry as something thats really darndry!:) and then added a long reverb to it...check it out..itsa really fun song too..children's lullaby dream pop: )here's a link to the whole album,(if i may) http://www.altusmusic.ca/media/Silverco ... aby.zipChe, i have been hearing around that the NT2-a is the shizznits!i think you will be getting tons of good use out of that puppyErn..sadly:( i didnt go to see James Brown...(sigh) a friend went and told me all about it...and friend was dissapointed that he didnt do "sex machine"any ideas why? hmm^^ if i was there i would have wantedto hear "the big payback" my alltime fav song by James Brown..i first heard that song driving through Flint, lost on my way backhome from the University...fun stuffPaul ...i would love to have your set up...it would be so nice to have a 'batcave"in Seoul..not really many places to hide away; )oh how i miss my friends's studio back in the states...i cant say why on this taxi site though...(sigh)

I use it with a fairly tight cardioid pattern for lead vocals. It's given me great results.Apr 17, 2008, 2:22am, silvercord wrote:it sounded dry as...hmmm dry as something thats really darn dry!:)Wow! I just listened to "For My Beloved Dreaming". I'd say it almost made me cry, but then I'd have to turn in my man card! Seriously, the winding sound with stereo panning, the stereo panned music box playing Patti Page's "Try To Remember" (such a melancholy tune!)...man, that sounds great. Then you come in with the voice pad...just sweet, man. Good job.

Hey Geoff, never mind the guitar, that song was great. You got some talent there sir!Tried to listen to the track jmeraz mentioned, but cant play any of the tracks on your Taxi page.Anyway, that last one played OK, and the guitar does sound clear.Hope I can get that kinda sound with the 012.Will have a play around tomorrow.Thought I'd try it on it's own first, then with the AT2020 on different tracks.Cheers,Dave.
