m-audio pro session loops restrictions ?

ive recently found out that big fish audio loops have limitations on liscenseing u cant use their loops with a music library or for tv liscenseing if its part of your trak ive researced acid loops & i believe they are totally copyright free without liability but i cant find anything about M-AUDIO PRO SESSION LOOPS DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THEIR liscence agreement states because i used some of their loops in a couple of songs and before i submit i want 2 know

Doc,are you sure it doesn't say so on the package, or on the disc the loops came on? With most soundware the you have to agree with the licensing before you open the package and/or install the content, so it's usually spelled out pretty clearly.If it says you can use it for commercial use within your own original music and doesn't have a specific restriction pertaining to library use, then it would be okay.matto

What I'm reading on my packages is pretty much this:1. You can use the samples to make original music.2. You can not use them (construction kits) unmodified for commercial reasons.3. You can not make music construction kits with their (unmodified) samples to be used by anyone else.4. You can not use them to make a competing product.5. You can not let others use them, in whole or in part, for any reason.This is pretty standard through the industry. They just don't want you to take their "Smokers Delight" or "other name disc" samples (especially construction kits) and re-release their kit with your name on it. Using the samples individually on your original track is generally considered OK.

I LOST THE ORIGINAL DISCS PACKAGE BUT BASICALLY WHAT UR SAYING IS I CAN USE THEM FOR YOUR MY ORIGINAL CREATIONS BUT JUST NOT THE COMPLETE SAMPLE WITH NO ALTERATIONS BUT AS A PART OF YOUR OWN CREATION IS OK USING A GUITAR LOOP WITH MY OWN BASSLINE WOULD BE OK TO SUBMIT FOR PLACEMENT?

You can use the guitar sample as part of your original song. Make sure you are not recreating their song if it is part of a construction kit. -daniel

If there is a concern about the technicality of the EULA, then I'd call M-Audio. I just tried but they are closed. I'll try again Tuesday. If you like you can call Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm pacific, at 1-626-633-9050.I believe if it is layered over your riffs too, you can use it. If you don't feel right using it, don't use it. I'd 'rough up' the riff. Changing a sample is pretty easy. I'm not sure how essential this riff is to your original track. Maybe someone else would like to weigh-in on the situation.-dr

I've not yet collaborated with anyone though I would like to try. That was something that I picked up at the Taxi Road Rally. Collaboration is good. I used to play guitar (rhythm primarily) and sing years ago before I sat down at a computer. Now I feel like I am all thumbs when playing a guitar. Most of what I do now is production, at the computer with a keyboard. I love it though. I don't have a recording facility. No expensive mics or preamps. I chose to spend my 'fortune' on zeros and ones (software).dr

I feel like I am good at many genres, unfortunately you need to be great to succeed at them. I try to limit the styles of music that I do because I keep getting sidetracked to a different genre in the middle of writing a song. For example I was writing a down-tempo track and decided to finish it as an orchestral piece instead.I prefer to do: 1. Orchestral work that is dark, twisted, or ominous.2. Chill, Ambient, Trip-Hop.3. High-energy, edgy, dark Chemical or Electronic.I am trying to suppress the other genres (unsuccessfully). They keep popping up in the music that I write.
