To Dave,So I'm guessing that might be the case for both beats, in which case I should have someone else create a new beat entirely for my lyrics. Thanks Dave, that's very helpful info.

Yep. That'd be the safest route for sure. And, you're getting a track the no else has.

Quote:Shavez,Yeah, that's what I was guessing... I read through some of the contracts associated with those beats. I think for what you're doing the non-exclusives are fine, since what you're trying to sell is YOU and your songs; the tracks in this case are less important. And if they label picks you up and wants those tracks, they'll be glad to buy them... they're cheap compared to hiring a "hot" beat maker guy. The only problem with those tracks that I see, is that even if you buy the Exclusive, that track can still be out there under one or many License deals that the maker has already made. The good thing is that you're "buying out" the track, so when you hit it big with this track the seller can't come after songwriting percentages. You seem to have cleared up what I was initially asking. Whether if the record label will buy the exclusive to the beat.Just wondering tho, how is the producer legally able to sell this beat if the samples are not cleared?

Well, I think he would state in his contract that basically it isn't his problem, it's whoever's buying them. Which is lame.

Yeah man, someone helped me look over the contract to the beat, and they said it seemed a bit Shady. Not knockin the guy, he's seems very talented seeing that's it's a part time thing for him, he does good work. But I don't wanna have to risk my future at the hand of a shady contract.I think there were alot of unclear points in the contract that seemed to be of a disadvantage to me.
