When I listened to your sitar playing the other day, I could hear a little bit of Duane in there! I figured you'd be an Allman Brothers fan....one of the best and most innovative bands ever. (for their time anyway)

Whipping Post is one my favorites...it brings back fond memories of me going to Greg Allman concerts. That was the last song they'd always play, and it was still pretty good, even though Duane and Berry Oakley were gone by then. Jes not the man I'd want my daughter to bring home, heh.LOL, as much as I loved Greg, I don't see him as daughter material either, although he's cleaned up since then....of course, he's too old for anyone's daughter now. I know from what I've read, he has a very kind and sensitive heart....I guess the drugs and alcohol were a way of dealing with his fame and some of the tragedies he lived through.When I saw him playing at the bar in B'ham in the 80's, he was so out of it, he could barely play. That was right after he divorced Cher, I believe. I'm glad he's got his life back together.....he's certainly one of the legends.BTW, Greg has a cute son named Elijah Blue.....although I don't know if he's marriage material either.....another (gasp) musician.

Oh no not another musician!! What is this world coming to?? I'm pretty happy that this musician and her roadie husband have made it 20 years!I was thinking of "whipping post" because of all the returns and rejections I've gotten on my submissions here and elsewhere lately. I have been trying a lot of new stuff, and harder stuff (playing more myself, less loops, writing lyrics etc) so it's really fine that I'm not getting forwards on it, but then again, I'm not getting any forwards...and I like those!(back to the topic at hand) Many of the Allman Tunes, IMHO, would pass the test if released for the first time today. I mean, they are still commercially viable "hits". I always cringe when there are new stones songs out because I don't think they'd be getting airplay if it weren't the stones who released them. Again, my humble opinion. I'm sure a lot of people would disagree.

OH, thanks for that Dream video link!To bad the vocals were absent - I've got a great Allman Bros family story - just that my sister and her friends wanted to see Allman Bros and some other bands at an outdoor festival in PA (she was about 15) so my parents loaded up her and all her friends in our old ford station wagon and went to the show. Mom had a blast, and thought it was really funny when some guy asked her if she wanted to get high. She and my Dad were about 51 at the time. Anyway, I was not there of course, but have heard her tell the story a bunch. She also was became an Allman Bros fan later on - still is!
