Quote:And I'm supposed to be the one with murderous eyes!!!!!!!!LOL, Jeffe, your daughter is just precious...very cute. Well, I also write very female oriented loves songs, so maybe I can be redeemed. However, I have a boatload of prison and drinking songs.Don't know why I write that kind of stuff...I'm a pretty demure female, maybe we all have a crazy side. I like to write 'characters' and storytelling songs.

It's just so convincing. That's a good thing!!!!A good few years ago an old friend asked me to write him some lyrics about drugs. I wrote 11 songs in one day. When he read all the songs (which he loved), he turned to me and said "You've obviously been an addict". Well, actually. No. I don't got near the stuff. I just tried to imagine what it would be like and it seems I hit the nail on the head. So it proves that observation can pay rewards.I'm babbling on again. It was actually a humorous compliment. A brit's caught you out again eh. We do have a weird sense of humour sometimes.

Yes, I agree, many songwriters have keen powers of observation, and this pays off well for them.

"It's like rain on your wedding day. A free ride when you've already paid" - "Alanis morissette"Oh it goes so much deeper than that.

Quote:Quote:It's my baby girl. So you must be a proud dad! She's really cute! I hope you send her to school of music! She want's to be a drummer. She's not having a drum kit in my house! It can go in her mothers house. Lol.She can sing in tune but has no power yet. I'm working out how to teach her in a subtle way.If this thread is still going in several years, I might get her to post some of her own lyrics.

Quote:If this thread is still going in several years, I might get her to post some of her own lyrics. What are you waiting for? I wrote my first song when I was 8 years old!!!!! It didn't rhyme much but when I was 9 I wrote:Night time Daddy-Long-LegsTuck your son in bedOne leg smooth the blanketOne leg pat the headOne leg shut the windowOne turn up the heatOne leg turn the light offIt's time to go to sleepEight legs walking down the hallSsssh! To bed, one and all. Some forum members know this: I wrote a song when I was 13 that I still earn royalties from. Not that you have to pressure her, but don't put a number on what she can do at what age (except dating- then get out the shotgun)...Nomi
