Outlaw songwriters in Nashville

Post by jchitty » Mon Apr 23, 2007 9:31 am

Anyone here have a list of older songwriters who probably couldn't get lots of commercial airplay these days, but writers you love? Maybe they are not necessarily outlaws, just older songwriters. Here's mine:Jimmy WebbKris KristophersonJ. D. Souther (wrote a lot for Linda Rondstadt)Johnny Cash and Waylon (both deceased of course)Willie NelsonJohn Anderson (even though he's had a lot of commercial success, he just doesn't get much airplay these days)Just a list of a few.

Add Steve Earle and Nanci Griffith to the list, even though some people think they're 'commies', hehe.

They probably wrote stuff that I know.

I do not think there is any such thing as an outlaw songwriter. It is just a made up category that means nothing at all.
