hey Bob, this sounds like you're on the right track to me, it's definately minimalist, makes me think of a crime scene from a 70's show.

Re: If you have 1 minute...
hey bob!i don't hear this as csi type stuff--not as "noisy" and active as what i've heard, but i DO hear it as a very suspenseful piece for film--actually i'd try to place this in a very serious DOCUMENTARY.....seriously i can hear this at the end of a 3-mile island type thing....things dying, fish, etc....i like it and it's simplicity and very serious "nature"...as the salmon flaps in the dirty water...the bestwarren

I agree with Warren, I don't know if it fits the CSI/HOUSE listings, but a suspenseful listing, yes! Maybe add some more reverb as well. Nice track! Loved the piano!

Re: If you have 1 minute...
HI BobI agree with orest about the reverb, at least on the strings and woodwinds. At one point about 3/4 in they drop out abruptly and leave me really feeling the synthetic nature of the instruments. Maybe back off on the volume a bit and add a dose of reverb. What samples are you using? I'm sure you hate to hear this, but maybe it's time to think of upgrading your sounds if you are serious about TV/Film work. I just bought the EWQLSO gold and Gypsy and can't say enough good things about them. Really inspiring stuff! It will be a long time before these samples are useless IMO.I don't have cable so I can't watch shows like CSI/House. I really need to rent the season on DVD so I can educate myself. It's time for me to get hip with the scene, man. I suppose that statement pretty much says it all! Keep at it!Mewman

Re: If you have 1 minute...
Thanks Guys,I really appreciate it.Well, I just bit the bullet an ordered the EWQLSO---very excited...Thanks for the suggestions on the reverb.... I'll play with it.I have a question maybe someone can answer for me--I'm using LOGIC PRO--- listening to the mix in LOGIC it is just the way I want it. ( There is a lot of head room, the cello's are very soft and the clarinet and trio of woodwinds when they play are over the cello volume wise.)YET, when I bounce it (192kbps) , and listen to it via I- tunes, quick time etc, the cellos are very loud and the woodwinds are soft. I must be doing something to create this difference between listening in Logic and then listening to a bounced version?Any suggestions?Bob

Hey bob,I had the same problem with Logic Express. I'd memorized what to do to get the sound I want on other speakers but took stick's advice (I miss him!!) and now I don't have as many problems since getting Duet. It really seems to help a lot. Just beautiful for vox stuff too.

Re: If you have 1 minute...
Hey Bob,It's nicely suspenseful, maybe even a horror bit. I agree with those who say it doesn't sound CSI unless maybe a season-ending creepy cliff-hanger thing (what're the odds of that?) but it sho does sound skeery and chilling.I'm tempted to tell you to get a tremulator plug-in fo those strings but ewqlso will take care of all that........the strings are well written but when you're hopping from single to single note at the start, it's very synthy sounding still (sybillants! LOL).The horn flare conflagration was nice! Appropriately chilling. Hitchcockian. Really well done. The intro piano.....that's jes very sweet phrasing right there. As Miles used ta say, it's what not ta play and you got it jes right.
