i'm laughing here djb and all--hell, NEVER agree with me! LOL...the problem i had was that for a country tune (and it is damned good!!!) i did not understand clearly the bro to bro thing at all, after 2 listens, so maybe i was too harsh?? but i am POSITIVE (though i rarely disagree with myself...LOL) that in first person man can i hear it as like ON THE RADIO RIGHT NOW! or at least sold,,,,,but that's from a guy that aint sold anything yet, so take it with a grain...anyway, love it, love you'all, the best, warren

I can't hear the song - it shuts down after a few seconds. That said, the posted lyric is confusing - at least it is to me if this is a country song. I don't know who this person is until way into the song. I don't know what the references to hurricanes and bars mean. I'm guessing that the lyric is very personal to you, but as a listener I'm not following the story - and your job is to engage the listener in the song. The audience wants to know how a song relates to their lives, not to yours. If there's a way of making the lyric more universal and more listener-inclusive, that might be a good thing to explore for the country market. Or not. One never knows Claire

First of all, another great production! You guys are a good team.I agree with Claire on the lyrics. I had to re-read them to get the meaning and it isnt until verse 2 that the lens is getting focused. Personally I would sing the high harmony in the chorus. It would give the chorus more lift. Or better yet, leave the low harmony and sing a 3rd harmony above the melody. That would really make it stand out.My only other nit is the tempo. It felt a little slow to me. Like about 110-120. Id pump this baby up around 130+ and get some boot scootin goin on. Music, melody are really nice, Lyrics are well written but I think the story takes too long to develop.I wish I could get my productions to sound this good!Matt

Warren, Claire, Matt, Thanks for taking the time to give us some feedback. I know where y'all are coming from. I can see where the story might take a bit of time to come to you. You have to make it through the bridge for it 'ALL' to become clear. I thought that was a good thing ... a surprise in the bridge .. where a different perspective is put on the whole song ... but the simple story of the guy who has found a good place, that is told in v1 and v2 is not lost, just re-focused a bit. Maybe that takes too long and doesn't work in country these days. Not sure. We always have the fallback of film-tv. lolDean

Thanks for all of the great comments and suggestions. When Dean first sent me these lyrics I really connected with them right away, and thought they'd make a great country song! I read the lyrics to my wife and they totally had her crying, so I thought that was a good sign!On a production note. Lately I had been trying to figure out how to get some pedal steel into my songs, you'll never believe it, but... good 'ol Band in a Box stepped up to the plate and provided me with a real pedal steel part, with the Real Tracks feature! The parts are limited and it takes some editing but I am very pleased with how it turned out. Just wanted to share.Again, thanks for taking time to help us improve our song, we really appreciate it!Marc
