She Must Be Heaven Sent - Restructured Updated
Hello. Long time no see.I've been at the lab for a bit working on my recording techniques and I wrote and recoded this on Saturday night. Pretty fast but I think there is a good deal of quality all around.Sock it to me.http://www.taximusic.com/stream/203206/ ... ent.mp3She Must Be Heaven Sent – Carlos M Gomez – SpeedyGeez Studios 2009Not long ago her head was hanging low. A broken heart torn apart down to her soul. Not long ago she took a body blow. Crucified and teary eyed I’m sure it showed.Oh my god she must be heaven sent. Since he came along she’s feeling strong a perfect compliment.Oh my god she must be heaven sent. Her eyes are dried and opened wide its time well spent. Not long ago it either rained or snowed. Not a lot of sun or a lot of fun just growing cold. Not long ago she spun like vertigo. Never win just spin again down the rabbit hole.Oh my god she must be heaven sent. Since he came along she’s feeling strong a perfect compliment.Oh my god she must be heaven sent. Her eyes are dried and opened wide its time well spent. She believes it’s all behind her and has her man he’s finally found her. She feels just right in the warm sunlight. Now she believes it’s all behind her and has her man he’s finally found her. She feels just right in the warm sunlight. She’s in the warm sunlight and she’s feeling just right. She made it to the warm sunlight. She’s feeling just right.Yesterday I saw her walk my way. She sang a song as she walked along in a groove I’d say.Yesterday I knew she was o.k. Her eyes were bright lit up the night and she smiled my way.Oh my god he must be heaven sent. Since he came along she’s feeling strong they compliment.Oh my god he must be heaven sent. Since he came along she’s feeling strong they compliment. They made it to the warm sunlight and they’re feeling just right.1/25/2009Well I restructured according to icemans template and added a little of this and that. The e guitars are spread out in the mix. No double just sample delay. The bass is bumped up a bit and the main voc in down a few db in the mix. The lyric sheet has changed to reflect the new structureSounds pretty good. Thanks for the tipzhttp://www.taximusic.com/stream/204304/SheMust ... red.mp3She Must Be Heaven Sent – Carlos M Gomez – SpeedyGeez Studios 2009Not long ago her head was hanging low. Carlos,When I clicked on your link I got a red McAfee which tells me to not enter the site. Did not check out why - just exited. Could you maybe post your link on your taxi page and give us the link?Kitz

Good production, Carlos. The work in the lab is obviously yielding some good results. The area that struck me as needing the most attention from a songwriting standpoint is the bridge. The chord structure there is obviously a departure from the norm (which isn't bad in itself), but especially in the final phrase of each line it seems out of place.Just my $0.02.Jonathan

Hey, Carlos. Congrats on hitting the "Century Club" on number of posts...Pretty good sounding production, expecially considering how quickly you churned it out. One thing that stood out was how your melody seemed to begin and end on the same beats in almost every line. The bridge is definitely interesting, but does seem a little out of place, given the on the beat, narrow harmonic scope of the rest of the song.Great start.Vince

Thanks for the 100 club shout out. Reminds of the 5 time club sketch on SNL. The idea I had with this tune is to keep it simple and moving and short. I suppose I thought of a lot of those great 3:30 songs in the sixties and seventies. Naturally it had to have comtemporary crunch for instruments. I think I learned a lot by completing a tune in one sitting. I can get to 60secs the same as breathing and usually wrap it up after 60 then come back later. The structure is not the norm certainly but I liked the feel from the one session. Perhaps an extra musical breath here and there is in order but then I would approach 4:00 quickly. I dug the cool Louis Armstrong voice at the very end so I kept it in.The song is close to the fewest lyrics I've written for a song. If you drop the repeats there are just a handful of lyrics. I do appreciate the feedback.

Hi Carlos,You don't know me...I'm a new kid on the forum...well no, I'm definately not a kid by any stretch. For what it's worth, here's my spin... The verse and chorus are strong. Very catchy. I like them a lot. I like the voice as well. IMO, the bridge is a bit long and meandering. Structure wise, my suggestion would be:introverse 1first 4 guitar bars of intro.verse 2chorusverse 3chorusbridge*chorus x 2 (maybe guitar solo over first one) *Shorten the bridge to only: She believes it’s all behind her and has her man he’s finally found her. She feels just right in the warm sunlight. On 'sunlight' resolve into the root key or 5 chord and then hit the chorus. I think the verses are interesting, strong and short enough to double up on the first and second. You might try is physically doubling the rhythm guitar and then pan them hard left and right for a big sound. There's some really, really great stuff in this tune. Reminds me a little of Creed except I like your melodies better. Randy

Thanks for the specific structure suggestion iceman. I think I just may dial that up this weekend to see how it fits. I suppose that one of the benefits of double tracking the guitars and a hard pan is that the bass will be uncovered.

Carlos,I used to use a stereo delay (poor man's double) but I think using two individually played tracks sounds better. On the down side, its a lot of work to play the parts close to identical...at least for me. But it definately helps create a lush sonic image. I appreciate that you are willing to try the structure suggestions. All I can say is that I cannot be responsible for any personal injuries that may result.Randy
