Re: New Rock Song--any comments?
hey Warren... I'm listening to your song here at the office with my iPod earbuds (so I don't feel I can really comment on the production quality), or should I say I've BEEN listening to your song, about 20 times now, and I gotta say that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the melodies in your chorus. These are just the OPINIONS of one person, so feel free to disregard them if you like but...I tend to agree with zoom about the vocals seeming to be a bit over-enunciated... The song has an 80's rock feel to it to my ears. The chorus may have more an 80's pop (or maybe 60's) feel to it probably because of the way the vocals are being performed, but I think with a different vocalist, it could sound less dated... I don't think it would work for any listings looking for current sounding songs, but I definitely think it would work if they're looking for songs from the 80's era. I hate to even suggest this as I'm guessing you may have already spent more money on this than you wanted to but... have you considered a female voice for the song? For a reference, check out "Perfect Day" by Hoku. Again, those are just my opinions on the song. But I REALLY do love that chorus and the song is most definitely not boring.Sincerely,- Big Blue

Re: New Rock Song--any comments?
hi zoom and barry my friends!damned computer down, but doesn't seem like i missed much--except your comments--LOL--WHICH I APPRECIATE! thank you....zoom--thanks for the "free" vocal comments, that's what i "sung" for them to follow, along with the rest of it, and that's what the singer did. yeah the car thing is something i may look into, but right now frankly i aint trying to write tunes for local car dealerships, and don't have the pysch energy to pitch it there right now--yeah, i'm in one of those moods today, was on the horn with my wireless router company, and the guy from india even HUNG UP ON ME!--outta pure frustration, i didn't even yell, just asked him one too many stupid question i think, so i'm on the family computer--hell, thinking of boarding up the studio anyway...don't know much about any more music for me in 2009--i may be hanging up the quilled pen this old man uses--nothing seems to fit, and reality after working so very hard for going on 5 years now is just a bit depressing...but what else to do? hell, maybe i should SELL cars! LOL...hi barry--thank you for the words, and another sing of this is already on my mind, and a female might be the one for it, so thanks. i love your opinions btw, don't stop giving them to the folks here on the forum, you and zoom are both talented people that have always taken the time to "speak" to me. invaluable!anyway, thanks all for your comments, you are good people! we can let this thread drop off now...the best, warren

I like it. Nice melody, nice progressions. Great energy, great vocals. Someone mentioned a 60's vibe. I agree...like the UK mod sound. However, it's sounds a little crunchy. Particularly the vocals. And the guitars are a little too 'in your face' for my tastes. I looked at your wave and see that the master limiting is extremely heavy. This can result a crunchy kind of distortion.I get it that the volume is important in today's market, but still, a little less smack down would help. This is too cool of a song to not be showcased in the best possible light. Just one person's opinion. Again, it is a killer song overall.Randy

Warren,I've been a little pushed for time lately but wanted to jump in here and tell you what a great tune this is! Very "catchy" (that's an official songwriter term, even though I'm not an official songwriter). One of my favorite unknown groups was a band called Sky, that was headed by Doug Fieger, later of The Knack, in the early 70s. This song reminds me of them. Love it!!Cam

hello iceman (randy)thank you for the good words--a bit too tech for me on the master limiting, but (except the english i get) and i will DEFINITELY PASS THIS ON to my demo company. the lead guitars were so far back, and so was the vocal, that i had them bring 'em up, but the rythm guitar in the back as well could be on the high side--this is excellent feedback, thank you!!cam my friend--thank you for the nice words--right now i NEED some, love your "not an OFFICIAL songwriter" comment, I"M not either...unless they were passing those cards out while the meter was off and we slipped into the lounge for a brew...LOL...oh cam, at the rally the bass player for the Knack was one of our table "mentors." btw...my sharona is about as far as i remember....again, thank you for your guys--seems that my lack of my OWN production chops is really holding some of my tunes back...i explain and explain what i want, and usually it comes out pretty close...but sometimes not close enough--my own computer NIC card or something liked that crashed, so i've got to get it in to the geeks today, and i'm on our "good" computer that is so full of "kids" crap that at 54 kbps is still slower than mine sometimes...all the best, thanks again, warren

Hi Warren,I like that catchy, yet retro sounding chorus! I thought it was cool idea what Bill said about pitching to car company ha! I think the lyric would lend itself well to TV placments for sure!
