Bill,Like I said, " Imight be totally wrong" -I'm no expert on 60's percussion, ( and lord knows my memory ain't what it use to be). I should have been more presise- the snare fills are cool-- I was referring to the off beat synocopated fills-, Bob

Interestingly, I'm leaning way more towards an identical repeat of (a re-written) V3 (for V4)... Back then it was very common for verses to be repeated identically, things were simple and little 'story twists' were not the norm. (Often it was V1 that got repeated at the end)... Casey

I'll have to listen closely but I think after the fills it goes right back to the hat which might make it sound strange if I put a crash in there, but it might work.It probably should have been recorded on an old Ludwig kit (man, if that's a deal breaker we ALL are in some deep do-do

CaseyYeah, if I was doing it just for the good of the song itself, I'd probably repeat, but .... since you want to pitch to film-tv ... a different lyric, if it brings out a different aspect of the situation .. means more scenes the song might fit.Dean

There is no right or wrong but what I was trying to say is authenticity (e.g. 60's-like) is a HUGE factor for film/TV with a track like this. That's where I was coming from regarding the repeat verse-- if repeating with a lyric change (especially one that adds a different dimension) is not like what they did back then, it's a concern. Authenticity probably (JMHO) trumps. Also, more aspects actually can make it worse... more specifics, less usable. But if I knew everything I'd be making way more money at this! Best,Casey

The comments on this thread have been extremely helpful and I want to thank everyone again. Many extra thanks to a few very special friends here who sent me comments and suggestions off-line. If you can tolerate my singing , here is a scratch vocal with re-written lyrics. The lyrics got a pretty big overhaul. Of course, Bill has to make sure this sings & phrases right for him, but I think this is way better than before.... And again, pardon the singing-- this is just for my thoughts on lyrics and phrasing... Casey[Link removed by court order after complaints by PITA ]See new version link further down in this thread or at topThe Beauty In Y*ur Eyes© Charles P. Hur*witz In the year you left meI never cried Held it insideKeeping quiet to myselfTried to put it in the pastYears go by and still it lastsI think about you all the timeI miss the beauty in y*ur eyes I still walk the neighborhoodThe little streetWe would meetAnd hope to see you ‘long the way Maybe I’ll run into youFind out you and him are throughAnd forever you’ll be mine I miss the beauty in y*ur eyes You know I hoped someday to marry you I was so young then what could I do? What could I do? Many nights I dream that youCame back to me(pause) realityAlways wakes me teary eyedBut it doesn't matter anyway Can’t go back to yesterday We both moved on with our lives But I miss the beauty in y*ur eyes InstrumentalRepeat last verse with “Still many nights…”

Casey, I had your vocals cranked up when my dog ran howling from the room, down the stairs and is hiding under a table. I'm afraid he will never be the same. Damn, I liked that dog.

Damn, I liked that dog.A funny thing just happened... I was just playing the track while reading Bill's comment about his dog running from the room. Wouldn't you know it, my dog walked in! I'm not sure what this means but I suspect it has something to do with me cooking supper in the kitchen right now.Casey, you took this song past my ability to comment. Congrats on the rewrite! The story line communicates in the language of Pop and I'll bet it sings better too even though I've yet to hear it sung. <hehehe> I'm happy for you, buddy! I'll stay tuned for the final version! -Allen
